I have a magura throttle but a venhil will be better because they come with more useful hardware but look exactly the same. You have to make your own cables but that is easy. Just buy a universal cable repair kit. Another thing you will need is to replace the right hand switch gear. Touratech used to make the replacement but I had get a cheap set of switches and make it fit. Then you also have to figure out how to hold the break lever assembly on too.
Thanks! I hate how the stock throttle cable attaches to the throttle housing anyway. I had a fall and broke the threaded bit on the hosing to adjust the cable. Highway Dirt Bikes make some neat switches and perches that would work.
I got Rad's part and my forks from the suspension shop on the same day after Christmas. I already have the steering lock and ignition mount made and having been waiting for these parts to come in for a while. I found a Vapor on ebay for 70 bucks, so I went with it and manage to make a dash out of it. I already made a template for a bracket to mount the dash, but I'm not sure how much clearance I have since, I will be running the trail tech x2. Just need mattomoto to help me out with a picture of his X2 mount, while I wait for mine to get here
Sorry, I'm out of town and away from my bike until next year... I have a pic here, but not too good. I will go about 1cm lower and about 2 cm further back with the lite relative to the bars if that helps. I just used the stock sub to hold the lite up. Hope that helps.
One switch is hooked up to a relay which I wired for aux light but never really used. The other one I plan on using as a kill switch for the headlight. And I will put one momentary switch for the abs in the middle. Thanks for the picture on the X2. I will try to mount my x2 a bit lower, so I don't have to worry about the clearance above it for the dash. I hope you are not gonna use the steel oem bracket permanently. That was the hole point of the mod, wasn't it?
I got mine the same day... They are very well made... Almost bling Got mine together, went back with the stock headlight assy... I am waiting for a brake line, and I have to make an ign. switch bracket.
A quick note...It seems as if there are a few of us that have sent their forks to Richard at House Of Horsepower (perhaps direct from an Ebay seller) with no documentation enclosed. The assumption is, since the forks have the triples attached they are likely from a ADV GS-YZ project. He currently has 3 sets in house with no names or contact info. Bottom line, if you sent him a set of forks or had a set sent, you may want to followup on it. He will need a "rider information sheet" available on his website, with your weight, riding info, shipping address and billing preferences. Thanks Rad
well that's kinda stupid How will he know who's forks are who's? Hopefully my bits are winging their way to the UK from richard Tell him thanks from all us lot if you get chance rad
I did some test riding on new years day, with my mate on HP2, in the white slippery stuff so no need for front brake enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aFE834eg7w
Just took mine out for its first test ride after installing 2005 WR450 forks... Man what a difference... smooth as butta on washboard gravel roads, and I was purposely hitting pothole just to see if I could feel them in the bars... Amazing transformation... It was below freezing here today, but I had to get out and ride... Sorry no snow videos. :) Just some pics from the ride... Looks like the unauthorized place for target practice... I guess red is the preferred color for shotgun shells.. I was able to get permission to cross private land and rode up to the bank of the Arkansas River. Nothing better on a below freezing day than Hot Buttered Rum.... Especially after going for a ride in the freezing weather, and returning home only to realize you can not feel your feet anymore... :)
Bill, Glad to see you took it out for a test ride...Its a huge change and hard to put into perspective until you ride it - eh? High of 14F here in STL today so no riding for me. Rad
