Not too shabby for a 14 year-old motorcycle..

Dolphin13, it seems to run about the same as before. Mine's still corked up since I ride through a bunch of residential areas to//from work. My front light is smidge brighter, but after checking out the squadron I realize how wimpy it is (55w bulb).

I recognize the hyperlights, but which LED 1157 bulb did you use?

Hoping you're still subscribed to this. So what eventually was found to be the culprit? Did you try the old CDI once you'd gotten it to run 100% of the time? Was it the coil? You're leaving me hanging here. :)

Glad you got this going Spades. Do you know if it was the pulse/ ignition coil, plug/plug cap or both?

    Interesting thread.

So You are 100% sure it was the CDI all along?

I have a similiar "buzzing" problem- only difference was that apart from the annoing "bzzz"- everything seemed to work fine.

    described here:
    https://advrider.com/f/threads/ktm-660-rallye-questions-thread.915778/page-4

This kept me really uncomortable with the bike- as the "buzzing" just didn't sound right althrough everything withthe bike run fine. Checking with a couple fellows that run the bikes with kokusan CDI- some of them told: "mine was buzzing since I got it- but also ran fine :hmmmmmI even contacted the guy that repairs them- just to hear that "buzzing" is quite normal and there shouldn't be much to worry about :loco

Since the original CDI is discontinued- it's not that easy to just get the new black box ordered- and still- if the bike is running- is it worh spending a lot of $ just to get rid of the buzz (read: is buzzing sound always the symptom of the unit going bad ? :scratch or am I just fooling myself :fpalm)

The buzzing doesn't sound good to me, however one of my two LC4s do it and both runs very well. At least I can't hear it when the engine is running.

    Strange indeed...

...what You say somehow confirms what the engine electronics gurus I asked about this have to say- that buzzing is the sound of Voltage Inverter in the CDI that boosts the voltage from 12 to fev hundered Volts for the CDI output to the Coil- that it somentimes gets loose from the insulation and may "resonate accusticaly" upon work. Still I would preffer the unit that doesn't "buzz" ;)
