I'de also like to recommend the Rox Risers you can get the bars in a better more comfortable position and make it easier to stand up.
After 150 miles, I'm probably gonna be looking for some of these... sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
Are you going to mount that Galaxy 3 and use it as a GPS? I have my Atrix 4G in a Otter Box mounted in a Slip Grip and Ram mounts.I have fun using it with the Dualsportmaps app. The App is 20 bucks but worth it when compared to buying a GPS.
I saved the Zumo cradles off my old bikes... just need a ram ball or the touratec mount over the dash... have not decided which. sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
Backwoods, I travel to Jackson quite a bit and have two ram ball arms that are the same size. 2 " I believe. I have no use for one of them so let me know if you want it. It's a freebie.
Ha! I just installed this set up on my XC yesterday. Works really well. I had my Zumo mounted on the handle bar in the center before that. I will say this about the SW Motech set up, the Zumo gets considerably more vibration mounted this way. The bar mount showed zero vibration.
I am having my machinist modify a set of pegs for me. I have to find a set of pegs with a larger base first. If the optional Triumph pegs are larger then that's what I will use. I will post the results with pics here when I'm done but it will be about a week or two. We basically use stock pegs with a heal platform welded behind them and at a lower position than the peg platform. This is really great for off road while standing. We have used this set up for motocross over the last several years.
Yes, this is true. I am looking for a sun shade for the Zumo 550 now as well. Being that far away from the Zumo now I can't adjust it as easily on the fly.
I use Touratech boxes because they are good quality and i found them used but what i don't like about Touratech is the extreme BMW bias. Look at the crash bars for the F800GS. They put lots of thought in the design. They completely match the design of the bike they look like they belong and they look good. Now look at the skid plate same thing they really threw down for the F800GS. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0NmMQiisRv4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now look at the completely shoddy design of the Tiger skid plate. Who would even consider such a piece O sh!t.Its not even welded. All rivets and they want 278 bucks for it. You can get a Triumph skid plate that's much better quality for 195. Its obvious TT puts all the thought and energy into BMW. Thats fine its there business but i'll pass if something is better than them on the market.'Which is usually the case when it comes to the Tiger.
Another recommendation from the Dr. is the Altrider rear rack. I have one and it good quality that matches the price point. I lost one of the spacers when i was putting it on and called them and they sent me another for free. Plus the support was very good on the phone. Touratech support is good as well but like he said over priced for the actual quality you get.
Do not fit well with the Arrow exhaust. I had to add spacers and source longer bolts for the footrest mount on that side to get it to clear. Guys at HT were unconcerned, said they would look at it if I rode my bike to them (500 miles one way), but were non-committal about doing anything about it. Good value option- better than OEM side cases- but having done the trip I wanted them for, I'll probably put them up for sale when I get a round tuit.
If you had any trust in that dealer, STOP. THe OEM heated grips are plug and play, right down to a dedicated plug in the harness. The only potential fiddly bit is snaking the power wires through the bars. Instructions for all Triumph OEM accessories are online at triumphinstructions.com- look up the part number, go there for the directions to decide if you can do it yourself.
On your photo are unpainted Touratech bars. They are stainless steel. I have same but black version. Same material, just painted. I will take photos today in the evening and will post. I can assure you they are not standing out at all, almost "blending" in unlike unpainted version. But I had some trouble with them - ones they sent me won't fit, LHS mount hole was 4-5 mm off and I refused to "force fit " it. I complained and they arranged new set of bars and free of charge fitting by distributor to identify and report what was the problem so that it will be corrected in next batches. Distributor mechanics did the work well and confirmed problem and did report for touratech. I hope new sets will be better. They are VERY smartly made thou. Really well thought. Despite I usually fan of Touratech (at all) this time I was impressed with design.
Can't agree - I guess each to each own. When I say I fixed bars - I mean bars, that crushed bike, otherwise nor me not my buddies even bother with "fixing" them. My bars (Givi based, fully reinforced DIY) on my previous bike looked like they been through wars - I just spray them from rattle can to prevent rust at damaged areas. SW not using same mounting structure or principle as Triumph bars. Since their bars protrude way up they have again 2 huge console lugs (at least with crossmember unlike their bars on Strom). There are no adequate "triangles" to distribute forces. Sure, bars supposed to break and bend saving bike indeed. Saving bike - is key there. Agree, OEM gives zero protection for rad and tank and this is why I used Touratech tank bars together with OEM engine bars. I believe closest to perfect "one piece" bars are Holans but not sure about console lugs lower part that supposed to protect engine side cases. As long as it is not H&B bars it will be no big problem anyway. Those are worst for Tiger.
Mine looks identicle to this one Same top and bottom engine bars same rad and light grille's and the same fog lights have got Triumph cntr stand, Triumph screen adjusters work really well with std screen, Givi Trekker panniers 33ltr and 46Ltr top box, removed Triumph heated grips useless fitted the latest Oxford ones much better, got the Rox Risers also great, TKC80s good compromise and look chunky, 660 Zumo Excellent, got the Plastic sump guard will get the Triumph alloy one next,
before you spend the money on the pegs you better check what they are made of. not all of them are steel... not sure what your machinist is capable of modifying.
Should be fine as long as they are not cast. And I certainly hope no one is offering cast foot pegs. The metal is too brittle. Aluminum is too soft. They should all be steel, but can be different types, i.e. chrome moly, carbon, etc.
