I think it's time to start a thread about my beautiful country, Brazil. The idea is to create a place for: Brazilian ADV riders check-in Travelers tell us that they are here Future visitors ask questions So, lets go!
I will be visiting your country on my way north later this year or early next year. I think Brazil will be the highlight of my trip through the Americas.
Make sure to include Brasilia in your route, so that we can have a beer or two! Note: Brasilia is the capital city of Brazil. Not Rio de Janeiro
I will just chime in to say that Brazilian riders are the friendliest, most supportive, most helpful and hospitable in all the Americas. The only drawback appears to be the distinct danger that once you start accepting invitations your forward progress will diminish to the point where you'll outstay your visa, which could be a real problem. Will do amigo. Actually, I used to fly a Brasilia, I loved that airplane. I can believe it. The Brazilian riders I have met along the way have been great people.
I am also in Brazil. Currently living in Santos - SP. If anybody needs any help, count on us. Lucio www.DaQuintaPraNove.blogspot.com www.LucioSiqueiraProjetos.com
For those travelling through Brazil, there is a website of DNIT - Departamento Nacional de Infra-estrutura de Transporte very useful. It tells the asphalt condition of the federal roads
Me too , anything possible to help others ADVRiders , i´m in! Lets talk about a place , like official place, to meeting in Brazil , what you think guys?
Can someone do a little short story translation here for me about the condition of BR 319 and when is the time to go. From what I could tell there are lots of red dots and something about Jan to Jun http://www1.dnit.gov.br/rodovias/condicoes/condicoesdrf.asp?BR=319&Estado=Amazonas&drf=1 Thanks for some help, John
John! January to June, is the rainy season in Amazon Forest, then, the roads at this places stay very very bad. Because of this you see red dots. The others are better, you can ride without great problems. Keep in touch,
Thanks Robson for the translation, looks like I should go to Brasil after Colombia before the rainy season starts. I just need to get cracking on the Rosetta Stone language skills to at least get some Spanish going. I really want to ride BR 319
No problem John! These roads are a dream for Brazilians too... OK! I'm in south Brazil, at 450 km from Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre.
Crashmaster, If you happen to be in the neighborhood, I am planning two trips in November - December. 1. An 8 day trip around the state of Rio de Janeiro (29/11 - 6/12) 2. A 10 day trip of the Estrada Real and the Historical cities of Minas Gerais (13/12 - 22/12) I'm from Belgium but living in Brazil since Jan. 2009, and starting up a motorcycle travel organization (http://www.mirantes-mototravel.com) and these trips are going to be kind of 'dry runs'. I'm planning to really get business going early 2011. You're welcome to ride along for no charge. ) Grtz
Hey Linhares, I'm from Belgium and moved to Brazil almost 2 years ago. I really love the country and its people. (only, the price of a xt660r is almost twice of what you pay in Europe... ) I just stumbled upon this forum a few days ago. Looks like a nice place to get together with other riders.
And it's not just the riders... If you have any kind of trouble, EVERYBODY is ready to help. I never experienced this anywhere else.
Hey Raphael, I had a look at your website. Great business you are starting. If you come to SP or Santos, let me know and we can get together for a beer or two and discuss business. Good luck !!!
Gracias. I cant wait to get to Brazil, however, it will probably be January or February. I am also looking at the possibility of riding all the way north to French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana. But, I think that is the wet season and is a long way off anyway. Saludos.
