Considering how well today's motors are made, and the improvements in oil from days gone by, heat cycles play a more important roll, than slow and easy break routines. 8 full heat cycles, following MFG RPM spec, an oil change and you'll be ready to romp on it. It's more about expansion and contraction and most the effect is early on. The precise fit of components and lubricity of oil doesn't have as much effect anymore. After that, ride like you'll ride it
1. Norman Hyde, Baker and others make large tanks. Do a google search and the sources will be evident. 3. See link in my signature block
finished phase one of my de-chrome project for the scram. Sanded, painted, and clear coated the heat shields. Does anyone know where I can obtain one of those Polaris inlets (bell mouth) that fits our air boxes?? I tried to get one from bike bandit but its a discontinued part now.
Pretty sure that it's a Polaris part called an Inlet Plenum? http://www.partsland.com/index.cgi?N=1367953977-39686&P=SM-1997-ULTRA-SPX-OIL-TANK-AIR-BOX Identified in this link: http://www.triumphtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-2268.html?
Redline, shift, redline, shift, redline, shift, redline, shift, redline, shift... rinse, then repeat. Here's a video to help illustrate the concept of proper Scrambler break in. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wZNQkEPcm3c
Hey strafkommando, are you coming to Bennington Bash (grass roots Triumph Rally in VT) at end of month? It is a great time and there will be a few scrams there. There are a few of us that ride out from WNY. I also have a blue/white '06 Scram with air box remobed and BC high headers. It drives my harley buddies crazy, bike envy.
Id absolutely love to but I think its happening while ill be down in Texas visiting for a music fest. Ill be MIA May 25th through June 2nd. What was the date of the bash?? I can say I get A LOT of attention on this bike and people fly out of the wood works to talk my ear off about it. Got a center stand, shocks, and a Polaris bellmouth on the way for it. Bafflectomy happening next weekend. A couple of days ago I did the proper prep work and blacked out my heat shields.
I sell a high seat; can be fitted on Scrambler/Thruxton/Bonneville. 2"/5cm higher than the normal seat. Filled up with cell foam. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=885710
today I combined this- and this - to make this - Tommorow I'll probably be writing a ride report on how I lost bag containing a camera and my glasses Before anyone ask's, yes i does touch the shock but only at full compression, the angle of the pic makes it look worse.

They are a bit loud when I stomp it but around town not bad. Of course I find no reason to crack the throttle in town. I've finally reached the age of maturity (senility?) that I don't feel the need. The legs do not burn with the shields on. The pipes added a bit more oomph in my opinion.
I like the blacked out shields. I almost went for blacked out pipes from BC. Bennington is the weekend you will be gone. There is a British Bike rally next weekend near Oswego I've been told. I am going with the local BMW group. It is Saturday.
