MS Tag-O-Rama

Okay, So I know how many disciples there were, and where Oprah is from, and I found a Scottish sounding community thanks to Google Maps, but I cannot find a cemetery on the map between the river and the community. How far off the highway is the gate to the cemetery? Can it be seen from the highway?

EDIT: I think I found it thanks to a USGS topo map of the area. Still can't see it on the Google Map, but I know where it is....

I was wondering if there was some special connection there I was not getting!!

Try it with the info given shouldn't be too difficult. If no one finds it this weekend, I will update.

If and when I get it again, I already have a new spot picked out in the southern part of the state.

Well, we been there done that. I, and fellow member Anticyclone, decided to pony up and head for the Kosciusko area to McAdams, Ms to find the coleman cemetery, and find it we did. It was a nice 1.5 or so hour ride one way, and it was nice to get the old beemer out on the road longer than 10 or 20 minutes. First time I've done any real riding since the rebuild.

We're discussing a place to place the next tag, and we're gonna head out tomorrow to drop it.

EDIT: Ok, you figured that out quick!

More info on the tag. From Kosciusko, go west on highway 12 approximately 6 miles. Look for CR-4237 on your right (may have a sign, may not). The road runs right into the cemetery within 1/4 mile. If you can't find the road, you"re not trying very hard. There are only about 3 roads to the north of hwy 12 in McAdams.

I placed Tag#3 (Coleman Cemetery Tag) where I thought it was. Someone let me know if that was incorrect.

Tag on the map for coleman cemetery is pretty close, the actual cemetery is just south of there where it looks like the road forks to the NE.

GPS coords are 33.0262, -89.6837

Rain has dampened (no pun intended) our ride to re-place the tag this a.m. hopefully it'll clear out later, and we'll get it set.

Well, I have a couple, I'll try and actually get some shots of it if we get to ride today. I was hoping to practice my amateur photography skills today, and try and capture a few action shots of our ride, but I don't know if I'll be pullin out the nice camera unless the weather cooperates. Either way, I'll get some better pics of it up. I also had a thread I started a while back about some of the rebuild if you're interested.

We woke at the crack of dawn (well it was 7:30, but on a Saturday that's early) to go place the new tag. By 8:30 we (Wolfy317 and I) had each had coffee and were ready to head out the door. Of course, that's when it started raining along with much lighting and thunder.

My morning went like this: Check the radar, surf ADV, check radar, surf ADV, look outside, surf ADV, calm the dogs down after more thunder, check radar... Clear!

So we headed out at around 3:00 along with Ninjammin to place the new tag.

Some hints:

It's located on a highway where the numbers add up to 3.

The main event at this location has been held annually since 1891, with the exception of WWII years.

It is the home of Mississippi's only licensed horse track since 1922.

While we were there, preparations were in full swing for this year's event.

EDIT: It's a solid 0 on the DDS to the front gate, however once inside the gate the road is gravel. The Goldwing who came in along with us didn't have any problems.

Yep. Was a good ride. We took some nice twisties to get there, and it was nice to hook up with another ADV member (Ninjammin), who happened to be in town this weekend. Sounds like there's some good clues to go on for the next one. Happy Hunting guys.

I read the text on my Blackberry and knew where it was without the pictures!!! Great tag, good historical location!!!

Someone will get this one today I'm betting. I just rode thru there a few days back.

Good clues and a great historic spot for a tag. Whoever gets the tag should give the background and importance of the place along with exact location.

Nice to meet you guys too. If you make it south of I-20 in the next couple months, gimme a shout.
