I want to take the police motor courses for civilians. I have been trying to locate them but it seems tough.

    Depending where you live...

http://edmondok.com/index.aspx?NID=577 this one is Free I think!!!

    https://www.ridelikeapro.com/rider-classes $50 for 4 hrs...

I took the Midwest course and the Motomark class in South Carolina years ago... Both excellent courses taught by Police moto officer instructors. Geared for the civilian.. No bang bang shoot'em up.. Midwest was definatly more testosterone involved.. Out of 12 riders only one "passed" the police level.. And he was a new rider!!! He just listened to what they said and did it.. The rest of us had pre concieved ideas on how to ride slow.. I still learned a crapload of info. I was there for the education not a piece of paper on the glory wall..
All good. It teaches the basics of head and eyes, clutch/throttle and brake control when going slow..

Oh yea, how to pick up a harley that I rented........ what a pig...

    YMMV...

    LOCAL NYC PEOPLE!!!!

Ok NYC guys, there's been a few requests to keep in touch in regards to future sessions and events. To keep it a little bit more organised as well as to avoid e-mailing or texting each one of you, we now have a FaceBook group.

Its a closed group, so in the right upper corner there should be a button to request to become a member. Click that and as soon as you are added, you should be able to see all posts as well as be invited to any future events we are going to hold.

    Here is the link:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/593449573998904/

We also have a Facebook page now:
    https://www.facebook.com/MotogymkhanaNyc

Like and tell your friends. Page is for information purposes, while group is more for scheduling events and open discussion.

This should make it a little bit easier to keep discussions and questions pertaining just to local events in a more organized fashion.

Now if you are not on FaceBook, let me know in PM here, and I'll let you know the dates via text or e-mail.

Because it provides a way to invite other riders in the area who aren't on ADV. Also easier to keep the information concise for anyone new coming in.

The general information such as videos, riding technique and questions, ride reports as well as an occasional brain fart from me :D will still be here.

However I don't think its a good idea to clutter up this thread with conversations about scheduling and who can make it or who can not to each local event we are going to have. Of course not to alienate people without Facebook account, I can still be reached via PM here, and will gladly give you all the information about the next get together we are having. :freaky

I understand involving more people that don't know the internet is not facebook, but why LINK to facebook from here ?

its so much better to have a real web site, archive of info with hosted pictures and videos instead of a volatile "feed" that someone else controls.

    just sayin. :)

The weather here in AK finally cleared up enough that I was able to spend a few minutes doing GP8 in the parking lot after work yesterday (Friday). Still running wide around the cones, and having a hard time gassing, then braking in the short space between tennis balls, but I'm starting to get better with the head-snap as I start the turn :clap

It was cool reading about the police rodeo practice above and hearing how the cops were "like crazy close" to the tank; I was doing that, too. Maybe I'm starting to get a little better at this, lol!

@Vulfy, props for the growing interest there in NY! I'm still hoping for some interest here in my neighborhood (or to hook up with others here who are practicing in their own parking lots). The physical issues that kept my wife off of her bike last summer are clearing up, and she wants to spend some time practicing in a parking lot before hitting the streets on the new-to-her CB750, so maybe I can sneak a little gymkhana in without her realizing it :evil

Out of curiosity, I'll be in the Seattle area later this summer...anyone practicing there?
