Firstgear Kathmandu boots?

These look good, but we all know how that goes...anyone have any information on these boots? I've watched the Revzilla video and for the price these might work quite nicely.

These are half the price of many other Adventure boots out there (here's hoping thye are not half the quality).

Hell I sell Firstgear and hadn't noticed these were coming. Guess I should have read the memo...

I've seen these in person and like them a lot. Consider them a mostly street boot though. Quality on the new FG stuff is amazingly good.

on sale for $49

visually, they are the same boot, the only difference is the velcro on the Bilt boot, versus the latches on the first gear boot.

they are decent boots for the money ( $49), and they are waterproof.

How many times have you had them in the rain, and how much rain ?

zero, waiting on a elbow issue before I ride for another week or so

the day the boots came in I put them on, stood in the shower and sprayed them with the hand held shower thing, then filled up the tub and sloshed back and forth for a few minutes.

the only other boots ive ever had to pass that test are the knee high rubber boots that I wear in the garden.

And yet ANOTHER company that makes an afforable, albeit untested, decent looking riding boot, and fails to make a size larger than a 13....... :fyyff

Hoolikan, and the they run small, I wear 12 or 13 usualy in boots, I ordered 13s, and they are pretty tight, I cant wear warm and fluffy socks!

thats my only complaint so far.

I went there and they're $159. Where did you get them for $49?

they were on sale a couple of weeks ago on the website, i imagine it will happen again.

I just wonder if in a year, they'll still waterproof. I guess only time will tell.

right, I have the same concerns, 5 year warranty on materials and workmanship, if they let water in, Ill return them.

And you'd be correct!!! I did 4 days in moderate to heavy rain last week riding home from northern Quebec. The boots are still damp 6 days later.

Even though my feet got wet, I'd still say the boots did an OK job for the price. It was an epic rainfall and they stayed dry for the first day. If you're looking for a boot that will keep you dry for the commute or a day trip, these are ok. For anything more, I think you would need to step up in quality and materials (Sidi or Forma etc...)

That really surprises me, from what I have experienced with these Bilt copy boots.
Maybe If I had more miles on mine they would have opened up and let water in too.
But they are too damn small for me to wear though, so I never wear them, planning to exchange them now that they offer them in size 14 at cycle gear.

I cant imagine a better boot, bought NEW for $49 ( they are $79 currently) still though.

Ive got boots that were advertised as waterproof, and nearly $300 new, that are not waterproof either, so I am starting to just doubt the concept.
