Hawks Nest always makes for a fun ride. Here's a pic I took a couple months ago while I was there on the Busa...
Nice pic Eddie, thanks for posting it. I didn't really get a good shot of the curves. Amazing how fast you can go through there, the curves appear to be tighter than they actually are. Beautiful spot.
Telephoto lens will do that,,, compress space. We have a couple roads around here like that,,, look real tight in a photo but not when you're riding them. Still looks like fun!
There's a new "beast" in the garage that just got it's road papers yesterday. You might be seeing this from time to time in this thread. Say hello to my new '84 Honda Elite 125. Looks pretty nasty next to that Chinese 125 dirtbike eh? Top speed 55mph WOT.
I've been looking for this type cultivator for EVER! ( I own the tractor it goes on ) Any chance the property owner is reachable Its a shame that heartless scrappers are gobbling up all this good stuff....
Man, I haven't got a clue. I suppose I could stop at a neighbors house and ask. I think I remember where it is. They've got all kinds of junk laying around there.
Interesting ride home from work last night. My rear Shinko 705 sucks in the snow, barely made it up the last hill slipping and sliding all the way home. Debated on riding in this morning but decided why not, the roads were just wet with slush in the intersections. Just beat the sleet that started when I pulled into the parking lot at work. Gotta get a knobby on the rear!
Yep, that's what I had on last year and they did the job, lasted too. I'll be putting those on again I think. I have a 700 on the front and that does fine so maybe I'll just replace the rear.
Finally...some new pics from the area. Skipped out of work at noon, went home and grabbed the DR and headed to the woods, Speedsville actually. Sorry it took so long to add to the thread but that's how NY winters go round these parts. Old Mustangs must be hated out in these parts... Didn't stop in to see what he had but I will next time... After playing around on nicely groomed seasonal roads, sorry, no pics as I was enjoying the ride, I came across this little settlement about 15 miles out of Ithaca... Great little hippy development, tightly knit homes, I'm assuming energy efficient. I'll find out more on my next trip and hopefully talk to the contractor. I wasn't the only one there taking pictures. Googled it this morning and found this link. Turns out these houses are rental units. http://www.boicevillecottages.com/our_plan.html Meanwhile...back in Speedsville (or somewhere near there)... Heading home I took a look at Newark Valley. Very cool Depot. This is a local museum but they weren't open, not sure if it's still in business actually. Safe on the deck... Lehigh Valley Caboose... And afterwards a few drinks at the Blind Tiger. Mods and Rockers are starting to show up. Haven't seen that before here. Very cool and original paint CB350 watched over by a Multi...
You were lucky to find those houses, they are so colorful! Great train pics too! Definitely worth trying to sketch.
Found it! After 3 or 4 rides around out there and with overcast skies I was able to find the place. 478 Underwood Rd., Vestal NY 13850. It burned down sometime this past year. No wonder it was so hard to spot. Unfortunately, no sign of the cultivator or most of the other junk around the house. The old cars are still there and the mint green toilet but I'm guessing they pushed all the other junk, cultivator include, into the foundation and covered it up with the fire debris. If you feel like digging around in the ruins you might be able to uncover it. Sorry bout that FixxiT.
I know how you must feel man. I was disappointed too and I don't even own a tractor. I searched for the place, found it and the item I wanted to find was gone...or buried. If you want we can go out and dig it out. I feel like I owe you that much. But maybe some scrap hauling neighbor too all the metal stuff, who knows. Want me to go talk to the neighbors?
