As Jack Frost refused to relinquish his grip, I got a later than usual start this day. Headed north on WV 20 just across the Nicholas County line and then picked up Snow Hill Road. Brought back a memory of my last trip on a KLR in late winter let me just say that this road came by its name honestly. Me and Lil Red then worked our way through the mountains to Old Nicholas Road, stopping occasionally to snap pictures of scenic vistas, beautiful ridge top farms, livestock and antique tractors. I was hard on the binders to get stopped for a snapshot of a just dropped, still wobbly Black Angus calf when I looked ahead 50 yards down the road to their barn and there well there stood a HUMONGOUS Rottweiler, no doubt named Billy T Badazz. He was already in full attack pose, so I opted for full throttle 3rd gear acceleration straight at him instead. He never even flinched. I swerved hard left at the last second to zip past him and luckily his play fell short. I swear I felt Lil Red give a sigh of relief! It is for certain, thats one secure baby moo cow. Ill shut up now (yes, you can sigh in relief too) and let my video do the talkin.
Thank ye. And yep, sounds pretty timely given your book. I learn a great deal when researching the history before I pay a ride visit to a place of interest. WV and Appalachia as a whole has such a rich history. Wish I had more time to learn it.
For those that know Rella from the restaurant in Hacker Valley, WV. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=664950
Did a quick jaunt across the border today. Still pretty brown in the East, but there're signs that spring is coming:
Anybody have any pics riding in Lincoln County or on Rt 10? I lived near Branchland W.Va for a couple of years and alot of my family still does. It sure is a beautiful place.
several pics from Babcock last weekend, hope you do not mind a bunch of them. Rode the bike a few hours today and snapped a few pics while I was there. Playing around in photoshop a little since the lighting was bad and bland color since there are no leaves on the trees yet.
and a few in Fayetteville and the every so exciting walmart parking lot on the way back to nicholas county lol one of the many excellent restaurants in fayetteville
A few more cell phone pics of a trip to Elkins then to Blackwater Falls then through Valley Head, down Point Mountain, through Webster Springs and eventually on to Nicholas county.
One of the veiws from Spuce Knob Some back road south of Buchanon. Don't ask which one, we were lost for about two hours and ended up where we started from. Anybody familar with the Seneca Rocks area will know where this is from. Just another great road in WV may have posted this one before. Somewhere off Replete Rd. The weather is getting better so I hope to add some new pix soon.
