Well Mark, I have to thank you for playing along all the same. :thumb

I can create the hard start by doing what I said, though I haven't tried to repeat it multiple times in a row either. And the FJR did the same thing.

Aside from your koolaid addiction, you do have some good posts and good input. We will continue to disagree on some matters though. Feel free to call BS when you feel the need, and I'll do the same.

:ear You did a lot of other things too Graham, w/o any real hard start, just some minor stumbles.

Are the AUS bike ECUs different? You do get foam filters instead of the paper, if I recall correctly. Any other differences?

Probably moot, but I've never noticed any "off idle stumble" either. Have you?

Of course, we could consider another much more likely scenario for those "three previous 'no start'" episodes you had...

It was put this way by a poster in a thread on the Super Tenere forum:

"Without examining the bike, mechanical failure can't be ruled out, but it is MUCH less likely than simply (rider error, operator malfunction, rider losing control, etc.). The weakest link is typically the nut behind the handlebar."

Given that you've had probably hundreds and hundreds of starting attempts during the time you've owned your bike it perhaps stands to reason that those few (3) times you had a "hard starting problem" it was probably something you did, eh?

Are the AUS bike ECUs different? Don't know. It's a first gen 2010 Pre Fukushima bike.

You do get foam filters instead of the paper, if I recall correctly. Yep.

Any other differences? It's the fastest and most economical colour combo..:deal

No electrical farkles. Other OZ bikes have had the hard starting issue so it's not an "OZ bike thing".

Probably moot, but I've never noticed any "off idle stumble" either. Have you? Yes. Only in touring mode because I usually use that in traffic which I do as little as possible.

w/o any real hard start, just some minor stumbles.

This is not what I call a minor stumble.

:dunno. If that was a minor stumble all I can say is I cleared it before the battery went flat.

All I wanted to do was figure out the most reliable way of inducing the hard start and a reliable way of clearing it.

And, after all that I can say that it was easier to induce if the battery was not 100%, no amount of switching the ignition had any effect and that it reliably occurs if the bike is cranked without firing between one or multiple times.

I could induce it with a freshly charged battery but it was harder to do. As the battery softened it became easier to induce.

It can be cleared by opening the throttle between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle for one to three starts. WOT may do it as well but I never did WOT.

I have started the bike and switched it off immediately, left it for days, with no problem.

I have started and let it warm to just over "Lo" and left it for days with no problem.

The most reliable way to induce it is to crank it without it actually firing cold. The more time that happens in succession the worse it gets.

Short video of my Saddleman Adventure Track heated seat. I had Saddleman build it with a red insert and red stitching, not over the top flashy but looks sharp in my opinion .

Maybe a little when I think about the strong sensual curves of the D rings so
teasingly hidden under the fine Corinthian leather. The supple yet pouting
closed cell foam taunting me to just sit on it and wiggle. The custom stitching
plunging out of sight only to reappear exposing it's vibrant nature. Begging to be
touched and at the same time disappearing leaving the imagination as to where
it went and what it could possibly be doing there. Mmmmmm.

To be able to caress that black sea of suede cover with a light drag begging one
to linger longer. The thoughtfully scuptured center indent so inocently designed
to replicate the female anatomy. It's enough to drive a man to make a soft porn
    video of the experience.

I still prefer an AirHawk with the continuous flow of breast like cushions supporting
    my willing ass.:lol3

The perfect seat for someone who has ever broken their tail bone. Or just someone who doesn't have back... :D

Have you done a long trip on it yet? On long trips my tailbone is what gets soar. So I am guessing this seat doesn't have that problem at all. But how comfortable is it?

Let me take a WILD f'in guess...

That "tamper resistant" Torx nonsense, that comes with the OEM pannier mounts, is some offbeat shite along the lines of a T-47.

    Am I right? :ear

The only reason I ask is that I have a T-45 and T-50, and neither seem to want to work... :bluduh
