New tracks based on Lex's downloaded GPX file: BEWARE THESE ARE LARGE RAW DATA FILES - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NEWER GPS - I USUALLY ASSUME (FALSELY) THAT EVERYONE HAS A GARMIN OREGON, MONTANA OR ZUMO. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NEWER GPS UNIT, YOU MAY WISH TO DOWNLOAD THE SMOOTHED TRACK FILES IN POST 11, 12 & 13 BELOW.

Any one having issues loading these?

Trying to send to the GPS but the tracks keep getting truncated and seem to stop after the first waypoint.

it may be the fact that i am using Basecamp not Mapsource, but more likely operator error.

if anyone has any advise it would be appreciated

What GPS are you trying to send these tracks to? If it's not a handheld unit, most likely your problem is that the GPS you have will not accept Tracks with more than XXX points. These Tracks all have over 2000 points.

    Cheers,

I smoothed out the track data and remove data points to meet XXX number criteria (using turn radius criteria - if anyone out there actually cares), but I think there are too many track versions already and I fear at this point in time it would just add to the confusion...........................................but if SOMEONE CAN ONLY USE smoothed GPX files with less than 1000 data points here they are:

    DAY1 SMOOTHED = 825 DATA POINTS

PS. GPX formatted tracks will work in all GPS systems.

For those folks using Garmin 60CSX and the like the maximum data points to a track the device will accept is 500.

Before you upload the tracks to you device from Basecamp or Mapsource make sure you have set the preferences in the application to "simplify track by removing intermediate points" in the transfer option.

In Basecamp for Mac it is found here:

I had to filter the number of points to get the tracks to load.

Using Garmin 376C and a 276C. both old school units, they seemed OK with 700 or less points in the track. I could not find any actual information on the maximum number of points these units will accept, but this worked so! next problem please.
