I hate the hippi commune part , I always Fast forward through that , I hate fucking hippies :D . I think the camera man kicked the most ass in that vid . I like dust to glory and any given sunday as documentaries . I would love to see some of the RRs here put in movie form but hollywood would screw it up . I say put in movie form I find the guys who go on an adv with hardly anything the most interesting such as Jdowns , or parepin or that guy on that little 90 cc scooter .So no film support when its really happening so it would have to be recreated .

Walter Colebatch posted here previously about his "Sibirsky Extreme" DVD. Mine arrived last week and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have like to see more of his travelling companions as I felt I got to know them from the ride reports. I'd also like to hear more about the logistics. How do you film this thing with only the equipment you can carry on your bike - riding dirt roads almost the entire way?

The DVD is a bit pricey for us in the US - but I'd recommend it to anyone.

There's an old flick from the early 70s "Cycles South". It's one of the original adventure ride movies IMHO. All shot without sound and then they Put in voices and sound effects latter, classic. The last time I checked it was on streaming Netflix. Check it out

    Anyone mention The Highest Pass?

Bunch of yanks looking for enlightenment follow their guru on a motorcycle trip in the Himalayas - or - smart Indian dude tricks a bunch of yanks into paying for him to take a motorcycle trip in the Himalayas.

It was an okay riding movie, even with all the whinging pieces to camera. Couple of the people are actually likeable characters, though I really wanted to know more about the big guy in the turban who was seen in the background a bunch of times but never mentioned, and who clearly rode the bikes when the others were a bit tired / emotional.

just saw highest pass on net flix along with cycles south.
both good although high pass was a little preachy.

also several really bad 60's biker movies.

I realize this is a pretty old post....

Gary Smith's Burro has 3 Wheels series - http://burrohas3wheels.com is entertaining.

I was surprised nobody suggested Easy Rider to "the list". One of the granddaddies of moto trip movies. Regardless of what you think of the script, the cinematography alone really reminds you of what it's like to be on a road trip by bike....

I saw an excellent movie a while ago, the name escapes me right now, but it was about a guy that gets electrocuted on a pinball machine and his buddy has him cremated. Then he puts his ashes inside his Harley tank and goes wandering around the west on another Harley looking for the place he wanted his ashes dumped. He is accompanied by some kid on a Triumph. it was a cool movie. Maybe someone here saw it and remembers the name. :ricky

Cycles South is a great classic film, It makes you realize just how much access and freedom we've lost when it comes to riding.
