http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786238&page=3 It'll be easy for a guy with your skills, if you want to borrow the tap for the ball joint mount I'll loan it to you.DB
i read this but my bike is a different style i have a plate that bolts to the forks on the bottom and two bars on the leaver check 02 r1150r pics
Ok but you certainly can build a jig to shorten the lever 3/4" and add a piece to the lower ball joint mount, if necessary buy a used lever from beemerboneyard or ebay. We cut 3/4"out of the lever and tack it together and reinforce and make it look nice.It ain't rocket science.DB
The lower shock mount stays where it is, you take 3/4" out of front, to move the hole back, cut the ball joint mount out of the alum plate and add 3/4" of it you just want to add I can loan you the tap.DB If you doubt it works well call Claude and ask him he likes the way mine steers.DB
trying to ride this thing as much as possible but it keeps raining still need to go see Claude FN rain
I see you moved the ball joint to reduce trail, if you shortened the A frame an equal amount your fork would be at the correct angle and your front end wouldn't be sagging as much.DB
i just read back through the whole build i just wanted to tell everyone how much i appreciate all the great feedback i got from everyone you guys are are all great and very inspirational regretfully i will be selling the rig we have some family stuff going on i guess its just a bike and there will be more thanks again stay tuned
Zipper, thanks for sharing your build with us, some great ideas in there we'll all take with us I think. Hope all the family stuff gets fixed up. That's the real important issue. TD.
Thanks for the story so far, it's been a joy to see what can be achieved with undoubted talent and ability. Wish I had a fraction of your skills Zipper. Sincerely hope the family stuff works out OK.
Got to be some fabricating shops there that could use a partime welder and hell you could do allot of work at your place, look around.DB
