If only we had a closed course. Maybe ill buy a trials bike and climb the stress peaks send on a small touch screen by a guy with fat fingers
In preparation of season 2013, the dutch Gymkhana site is in the air. Website: http://www.motogymkhana.nl/ Facebook pagina: https://www.facebook.com/<wbr>MotoGymkhanaNederland This Sunday, the first event from this year will be in Amsterdam.
Geez that's fancy. Gymkana's at motorcycle rallies in Australia are much more fun. Held in a big paddock and usually involve a beer or 2. Your version is so nice. Minibike soccer the kicker on the bike and the catcher win a beer! Blind reverse quad races. Postie bike musical beer cans. Beer can on 44 figure 8 racing. The classic slow race The log jump Sidecar circle races (nb beer truck) Winners prize.
Just posted up a video onto our UK Facebook page that shows a section of a recent TV programme that did a feature on Moto Gymkhana. If you have a Facebook account it will be worth taking a look. http://www.facebook.com/MotoGymkhanaUK?fref=ts
please, someone, please kill the facebook daydream believin train. just make a website, upload some video, and let it be. someday, we want to look back at old threads and ridereports, and still have them. (myspace anyone?)
You could argue that either way. I've owned domains and run web servers; they are all shut down today. Currently, I use Google's Blogger (http://ak-vstrom.blogspot.com/), Picasa, etc. for stuff I want to share, since I expect that 1) Google has better uptime than my personal servers and Internet connection will; and 2) while Google's platforms may not be quite as flexible as writing my own CGI scripts, HTML and CSS, it's a lot easier (and probably higher quality). You could make the same arguments about MySpace/Facebook, too. Technology changes; that's unavoidable. No matter how or where you try to store videos, photos, etc., sooner or later, the provider (or storage medium) will be replaced with something newer/better/whateverer
One of our Moto Gymkhana riders in Poland is also a fairly useful stunt rider. Check out his head down trick as just knee down is so last year! <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K2bTLKundwA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> His GP8 is not too shabby either. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OQ0vvDHFwAk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Apologies to all for referencing a video on Facebook, but the producers of the programme only made it available in that format.
a server that requires login to view content (basicly spamming) and prevents easy downloading of that content.... is just a pita. not to mention changing policies, privacies, and the flow of everything daily. my gripe isn't facebook (it is usually, but not the focus today), its the stuff mentioned above. I have accounts from years ago that still serve up photos and videos just like back then. no login, no "whoareyou", no privacy issues at all. just wonderful, free, hosting. :) I know what you mean though.
Once again sorry about posting up the Motorbike Show feature on Moto Gymkhana onto Facebook. It now seems that it is possible to view it on Youtube, so for everybody that hasn't yet seen it, here it is in all it's glory. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wKB7yvLy-l4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
hey thanks for that ! when I see a fella in front of a rover getting interested in cones, that's a very positive thing. so often people are confused and confuzzled by the byways and distractions of BUYING instead of riding. gymkhana doesn't care about pipes chrome (eats it, actually) "billet" carbonfiber/fibre waypoints top speed or even if you use synthetic oil all Gymkhana wants to do is teach the willing, and install grins. :)
Today we had our second meeting this year, this time it was in the German city Krefeld. A bunch of Dutch people joined a few Germans and together we had a marvelous day. Because I'm no hero with cold weather, I was (again) with the car (i'm sorry guy's ) But just like last meeting in Amsterdam about 25 people from wich about 15 different drivers came. Some came even from 300KM up north. We did (as we do more often) in the morning a few exercises. GP8, wave, cloverleaf and a circle with 2 Jinxes. and in the afternoon a course. The circle was an excersise that was also used in the course, so people can get used to it. Also in the morning we made the excersises just a little bit more difficult to encourage a proper technique. In the afternoon the speed is just a bit higher. I will provide some pictures. I do have a question for you guys, what about air pressure in the tyres?
Probably moot for most riders but if your at the pointy end of the time sheet lower pressure will generate heat quicker & easier as the tire flexes more. Exactly the same as on a track. I know quite a few riders who drop their tire pressures down to mid / high 20's (psi) for track days & pump them back up for the ride home. Thing is, you would need to get the heat into them immediately before you start your lap. They cool quickly.
