question on carbon frames....how delicate is the finish? if i drop a chain between gear and chainstay/seat tube/bb/etc, with it cause enough damage to render the carbon frame useless?
Awesome trailer. I really like these new HD films with great videography. All of The Collective trailers are really well done too. On a similar note, I just saw this posted on MTBR. What a great mix of trials and AM riding. What a talented rider! So freakin sweet: <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/20601448" width="400" frameborder="0" height="225"></iframe>A Hill in Spain from chris akrigg on Vimeo. Ryan
It can. I have seen it eat completely through and cause enough damage for it to break. It can be fixed in either case. This is a friend of mine.... He does good work. http://www.blondefab.blogspot.com/
well dang. i was considering supporting my LBS by buying a cervelo rs rather than a motobecane ti roadie, but now i have to rethink my situation.
Nope. Hadn't had one on the Pugsley the last 3yrs since I switched to a symmetrical fork. Also only running it as a 1x9. Works for me. Mark H.
I think it's the exception rather than the norm. But something to keep in mind. You could use one of those chain fingers to help prevent it.
@ Pilot: no worries. The PITA factor getting it from here to there... @ Taki5: its usually not an issue. Most of the carbon bikes have some sorta 'anti-eff-up-your-chainstay' gizmo either built in or added on. A properly adjusted f. der. won't drop the chain. Slow day at the ole bike shop. Nice out but yet there's no bidness. M
But, BUT He has a "Dab" (put his feet on the ground) Just kidding he is amazing and On a Mongoose none the less
I finally got round to ordering the new bike....they were all sold out of orange so I had to get blue.....so I guess it'll turn out to be a turd Can't wait for it and the good weather to arrive
It did work better at one time. I compared it against a new bike with the same equipment and the new bike worked better but was not much better. I don't think it got bent, I compared the new one and this one and they look the same. I can't do a wider BB because it is an outboard bearing crank. I called Shimano today to get the numbers and it turns out the centerline of the bolt should be 9mm inboard from the outside of the bb shell or 25 mm outboard of the centerline of the bb shell. I did not measure this frame yet but I suspect it is not in spec. Shimano is sending a new derailuer. They might be sending a new front shifter also. I guess there have been some issues with the 5600 series shifters. If I get time tomorrow I am going to pull the crank and bb and try to measure the hanger and see how out of spec it is.
