FAQs from purchasers installing these: Q. What color wire is hot? A. The white wire is hot/positive and the black is ground/negative. Q. What is the best mounting method? A. I have used the flat mount for many on and off road miles with no issues. I adjusted the mount so the single bolt hole is centrally located with respect to the light. Remove the heatsink and reverse the mount to adjust for your installation. The flat mount has a physical stop that will limit the amount of adjustment for the elevation (if vertically mounted) or side to side (if horizontally mounted). A handlebar mount is also included.
Just received my lights today. I just have to say these appear to be great quality lights for the money spent. Now I just need to come up with a mounting bar. I'm off to the hardware store!
Ordered a pair of 24 watt Floods today. If I like them (and I'm sure I will), I'll get another set for my car. Winters coming!
For those that aren't familiar with assembling the AMP connectors here is some info: http://www.ducatiwiki.net/images/4/44/Contact_crimping_specification.pdf http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/cdata/1094/docs/1685006_1.pdf also this may help http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/PN-015-0080/AMP-superseal-2-pole-connector-set
These look very promising. How about sending me a set of the 24w floods for a little testing.. The Ninja is looking good... Tell momma we said hi....
Hey, I would love to hear some reports on what the people who got some of these lights think of them! Anyone have something to say about them? Thanks, FJRick
I've got my two 24 watt floods mounted and the wiring jury-rigged just to see what they're like. Holy Crap! These things are friggen missles! Yup, they light up the night, no doubt. I just rolled it outside and tried the lame stock low and high, then switched on the Cannons...unreal. They light up deep into the woods. I think I saw Bigfoot smoking a little as he split the scene. This is my work-in-progress: KTM 950 Adventure with a really cool Twin Headlight Ernie bracket. Funny...I thought maybe I had received Spots instead of Floods at first. I wasted a whole bunch of John's time as he patiently pointed out the difference and how to tell. Eventually I got it. You have to look really, really close but the three segment LED denotes the major difference. It's super hard to see it, but once you do... Yeah, I'm happy.
So how did ya wire it? More details please. Did you wire it into the headlight circuit? Use a switch?
So are the 24 watt definitely to bright for traffic? if so I may lean to the 10w for my DL...it already makes lots of light
Thanks for the report Chuck I've been using my 24w/10w combo during the day without issue. I'm still amazed how people move out of my way with em on. I hesitate to use them at night on a 2 lane simply because oncoming traffic will likely be blinded, who knows what happens after that.
Thanks for the quick reply. So each light (housing and bulbs) weighs almost 3/4 lb.? I am trying to figure out if I can mount it to the plastic under the headlight. Thanks
What do you have mounted there now? What bike is it? 11.5 oz is the ready to ship weight so it includes the shipping box, foam, both mounts 3-4' of wiring, male and female electrical connectors.
