I have thought about getting an AR recently - if for nothing else than to have a lower receiver with which to attach any number of interesting uppers, ranging from a 5.7x28 to a .50 BMG to a crossbow. I haven't shot one much since being in boot camp, but I do like the ergos much better than any AK, I just do not trust them. Too much history of unreliability and fragility. Yeah, I know, they have improved, especially with regards to reliability (especially if you get a piston upper0 - not so much robustness (compared to an AK). If I had to walk away from my house in a SHTF situation where I was on foot, this would be what I would take with me:

and one of my 22 LR firearms - probably the Browning Buckmark (after I get the lighter longer barrel for it).

Remington 700 SPS in .223, converted to accept Ruger Mini-14 mags, threaded for my SWR Wolverine suppressor, with my night light on it. Used it last night on a coyote at about 250+ yards.

If they're built with the same quality as my Model 44, it's a fine piece.

That ones not mine. Same model. I need the rear sight and am thinking about putting those grips on.

Yeah, I don't remember firing from the 100 either, but maybe we did and it was just easy enough I don't remember?

Thanks for the input guys, that's pretty much what I thought. It would be my lead spitter, already have some pistols and am inheriting gramps bolt when he's done with it. This one would just be for fun.

I am down to two semis and two revolvers.

The only reason why I don't carry a revolver most of the time is because I did not have one small enough ... till now.

3 inch sp101 is coming home today.

    Straight trade for my gp100.

The value of taking pics is what got me the trade.

I'll post them up when I get the revolver.

One of my relatives was the Ruger rep in Argentina.

He had the 2 inch sp101 in his slacks and no one could tell.

It's a lot of pocket gun ... hottest round out of there was moving at 1200 fps ... out of a 3 inch!

It's original. That revolver's actually seen quite a bit of silhouette shooting competition over the years.

The quality and lustre of the bluing on some of the older S&W's is astounding.

I really like the SP101, don't own one myself but one of my good friends/shooting-buddies has a couple of them, and I've recommended them to a number of people who were looking for a first center-fire handgun for CCW.

That said, I'm not sure I'd want one as a pocket-carry gun. I've used a S&W 640 (stainless steel J-frame 2" 357 hammerless) for that purpose, and I suspect the rugged SP weighs more, and it practically de-pantsed me. Plus I think any revolver with an exposed hammer is prone to snag on the draw unless the hammer is bobbed. But in a good inside-the-waistband holster on a sturdy belt, it'd make a great carry gun. For pocket carry I think the best choices out there are the Scandium or "Airweight" hammerless J-frame Smiths, and the Ruger LCR......speaking strictly revolvers here.

I just realized that was the whiz-bang thing that was unveiled yesterday. What's the big deal about another little 9mm?
