"I said crescent wrench not cream ale!"

I actually did an oil change and lubed the chain last night. Will be getting an inspection this afternoon then torquing all bolts with the torque wrench specs and raising the front suspension on the trees. The test is just gear prep.

Come by if you'd like but I will be wrenchn'

I stopped by Old Man Rivers business yesterday afternoon for a few minutes. Was inside talking to him and one of his employees says over their radio "Hey Bob, someone just knocked over your bike". I thought he was joking until another employee came to the door and confirmed. :puke1
I walk out on the porch and the gal who evidently tried to sit on it and her husband were standing there facing away from me looking at the bike laying on the ground. Then as I started down the steps they calmly walk back over to there little group as if nothing happened. My Shoei RF-1000 is laying on the pavement 20' + away from the bike. I was a little pissed to say the least.

As I'm walking over to pick the bike back up I had to ask twice "what the hell happened to my bike" before she sheepishly admitted to it. The helmet was on the left mirror and was thrown down hard when the bike fell to the right and the brake lever looks like a pretzel.

I don't know how the helmet didn't get beat up more than it did...

Long story short, she was drunk, he was drunk and they were going back and forth weather or not they would pay for anything. He finally said call the cops, so I did. At least by calling them the sheriff has their true contact info because at that point I didn't trust they would give me a valid phone number.
They also had two :dic 's with them who kept trying to say I was wrong about the helmet, I ride dirt bikes too, blah, blah, blah. I told both of them it's none of your business and to get back over by their car.
After I calmed down some I remembered Shoei will test suspect helmets for free so I told the husband I was going to send the helmet back to Shoei for them to inspect. He agreed to that but I don't think he is willing to pay anywhere near what it's going to cost if it needs to be replaced.
I told them the helmet listed around $400. I don't expect them to pay retail since I only paid ~$262(?) but they are no longer available in solid colors. The RF=1100 is the only option I will accept and the cheapest I can find it for is $329.
I will have to take them to court if the helmet needs to be replaced.
What really pissed me off was they said "we have had been riding motorcycles for 30 years", don't think helmets get damaged by dropping them, didn't try to get a hold of the owner OR try to pick the bike back up! WTF!!!
Sorry for venting on here but I just had to get it off my chest.
    Rant off.

On a happier note I had a great time at the camp out Friday night! Should of stayed and maybe none of this would have happened...:D

Shame on them. Lets hope your helmet is approved "safe" by Shoei.

You know you were getting tired of the funk developing in it anyway :hide

Wow, that was totally unacceptable behavior on their part! Glad you called the cops then. I'm surprised the cops didn't arrest them for DUI / drunk in pulic / nuisance or something like that. I think around here it would have been hard to stop them. Perhaps contacting their insurance company will get the payback ball rolling. Would suck to have to take them to court. Stupid people indeed. Responsibility has seem to have gone out the window in our lifetime.

On another bummer note, I can't believe you were at the campout and I didn't get to meet you.

Likewise LD, we enjoyed seeing you and Don.
The time really flew by :huh

I wouldn't touch a stranger's bike either... out of respect, if not being concerned for liability.

Once while my sportbike was parked right outside the window at a hotel, I watched as 2 little kids (barely as tall as the bike maybe) ran over and just climbed right up on it like it was a jungle gym! Their dad nearby quickly shooed them off of it but geeze, I was thinking, what if it fell over on them or they got burned on hot parts, then I'd get sued!

If the moron has enough sense to have personaly liability - or a home owners policy - hammer him/her. Other than that, good luck.

Lets hope! Fingers crossed. I was just starting to get used to that funk.

Well I was so pissed :kboom I wasn't thinking straight. It was the other guy who (like an ass) said "go ahead and try to make a claim on my insurance" and he was also the one who suggested I call the law, which I gladly did. The sheriff knew they both had been drinking, said he was going to wait awhile to see who drives out of there but took off after only a few moments. The whole drinking on the river thing is another story. :1drink There is no recourse if they don't want to pay other than taking them to small claims court...:puke1

I didn't think you had made it up to the compound Friday. There are many other folks I didn't get a chance to meet either and a few I met but didn't have time to sit back and BS with. :cry I was only there for three hours.
Hopefully there will be another impromptu get together soon.

Especially folks who say they have been riding for 30 years. I'm gonna have to call :topes on that statement! The woman was no more than 5' 6". WAY to short to try and staddle an XR!

The main problem was too much alcohol.

I guess they could have told there insurance company they backed into my bike but I know by the way they acted they would never do that.

Skippii, What are they doing to your bike in that pic?

I don't even know. They didn't seem to care. The cop only required them to give me there phone number but told me I could get the rest of their info by requesting it through some forms having to do with the freedom of information act. Just what I want to do...

Thanks for the encouraging words yall. It will all come out in the wash!
