Although Ian took great pictures, and I think Evan took some too, photos just don't give this area the justice its due. The more I reflect back, the harder it becomes to grasp the enormity of the gorge. Looking at the pics is great, thanks to those two, but standing there with the scenery taking up every part of the visual sense was absolutely amazing.

For anyone looking to do this ride, do it soon because work will begin again on this right of way, and when it does, the risk in riding will be too great.

Evan, how about a 3 night 4 day Coco's Corner run?

Ya I totally agree Rey. The pictures just really don't do it justice. It's absolutely amazing standing out there on top of the trestle looking down at the gorge. One of the most amazing places I've been on a motorcycle. Miguel's video is great too. I'm going to put it on my YouTube account soon.

I'm totally down for a 4 day Coco's Corner run. I'll talk to Ian about it and see if he can do it over a weekend. I'm trying to find another KLR asap!

Well Evan, we missed you guys on last weekends trip. It was brutal. Didn't do Carrizo, but we ran the border for a bit, and went up into some rock crawler area by mistake. Mistake it was! Bent pannoer racks, bent crash bar supports, busted mirror, etc. My KLR is on the lift right now. Aside from fixing all the obvious, I'm doing an oil change, coolant change (5 years already) changing out the HIDs for different temps. Installing stator, regulator which I may reposition, voltage meter for some testing, and since I never ever put anyone on the back of this bike, been thinking of fabbing up a cargo plate that takes up the pillion space. Baja testing for sure! Have you looked into the issue with the Husky's I told you about last weekend?

    Rey.

Damn that sounds like a hell of a ride! What rock crawling area did you guys get into? I have not looked into the Husky problem but will try to check it out this weekend.

We used to ride mountain bikes here in the early 90s. It was a great trail and it is really cool to see it again. I have a lot of good memories riding those tracks with some friends.

The only rail cars I remember seeing were sitting at the bottom of the canyons so the passenger cars must be a recent edition. Makes sense for a production company to store them there.

Good article about this cross-border railway and its future in today's San Diego Union Tribune.

Their photos aren't half as good as yours!

Great report. Did this ride yesterday as part of a big loop. Naked dude was hanging out at one of the tunnel entrances, just in the shadows. Didn't notice him until we were right next to him. Scared the shit out of us. He gave us the peace sign, so all good I guess. Good ride all the way through and out to the S2 through Jojoba trail.

Awesome! Glad you rode it too and had some fun. Naked guy is a good lookout for the place. He definitely doesn't seem to mind people riding around there. I think he lives at the nudist resort next to there.
