UpST8's Desert Adventure

Didn't go far until I ran into this impassible obstacle...the road does go across here and it is most likely just a wash 80% of the year, but not after nights of rain..it was moving and I am sure it was plenty deep..

I wouldn't tempt it on a borrowed bike, not on my bike either, maybe AWM's bike, but someone has to film it


Oh well....I needed a short break anyhow..

Having not gotten enough out of this morning I saw a dashed line on the GyPSy named Willow Springs.....I ate some peyote and went to check it out

Just kidding...I didn't take any drugs, but I did ride Willow Springs north for a long, long time

Smooth, graded, nice views and fast...easy going road without much ado. Relaxing type riding with some meditative properties...




I can get a little silly out there in the desert with a camera, but WTF?! Everyone who knows me knows I am a freakin weirdo, why try to hide it.

Came upon this windmill by an old cowpen....something about it spoke to me and I swear I have at least 10 pics of it I will spare you and only post one.

Fantastic photography man. Same little camera (not the GoPro, the handheld) you had on the 'Daks ride?

Yeah Jon, same little point and shoot. Olympus Stylus Tough Cam, secret is take lots of pics, don't delete anything and work it with editing. I use piknic with smugmug. The wide angle are stiched photos of three.

Sunday morning I went over KICs place for a different style of riding. TDubbin First time I had ever ridden a TW200 and I was excited. Everyone I had ever seen ride one, got off with a grin on thier face. My experience would be no different

We started out on the slab towards the SouthWest of Tucson. Our destination...the Santa Rita Mountains. I could see them rising in the distance. The promise of good riding was making quite kiddy

Made our way onto the OHV trails and it was nice. The Dub was not fast, nor the best handling bike, but it was fun, fun, fun...like I said before it was a different style of riding. Definately not white knuckle green blur touring, you could actually look around and enjoy the peace of riding in this beautiful land





The trails were sweet, little rocky, little sandy and a little twisty, but lots of fun




First big obstacle we ran into was a pretty steep hill...KIC went first and didn't have the traction to make it. He stopped about 90% up it and was just digging a hole.



I scurried up the hill and tried to help him get the bike back down. I thought swinging the front end around and bulldogging it down would be best, but we were having a hard time even standing on this hill. I know it never looks as steep on camera as in real life, but the loose rock/dirt was another thing. So, anyway KIC tried to get it straight back down, slid out and the bike with him under it went sliding down the hill. I tried to help him out, but it was too late.

As I made my way down to him, I thought my ears had fooled me. Did he just say " You wanna take a picture?" I have to be wrong, the bike (exhaust side) is laying on his legs?! So I just helped it off, no pic......sorry ADV I failed you

So we went around that hill and explored around the top...the rains had evidently changed these trails some. I didn't know the difference, but I guess they were not quite as rough just weeks ago....it's good, I like a challenge every now and then

On top there was plenty of evidence left of the mining operations...fall in one of these and day, week, month, possible forever may be ruined...:huh

Man, I love your helmet cam. That really shows the trails as they were.....steep and rocky ! You need to post your first video next to my video of the same section of trail so it can be played at the same time showing you from both angles.
