1190 Adventure alternator output and MPG/range

What is the alternator output on this bike? I've been unable to find it anywhere.

Also, does anybody have any reasonable real-world MPG #s (say highway at 65-70 and city)? I've seen numbers in reviews from 28MPG to 50MPG.

I am going to say that it's quite impossible to get 50 mpg(uk gallons)
In the city I get 37 mpg
Motorway 44mpg max 46mpg (70mph' 119 kph )

Yeah done a couple of tanks of Fuel.

I am averaging 5.5litres per 100kms, doing some good 1190 riding 150 -160km/h

Not sure in miles per gallon

My average is 38,63 mpg. Best was 47.6 mpg over 323 km and worst 35.7mpg over 306 km. I use the Road Trip app to log my riding. The onboard computer is always reporting mpg a little optimistic, and range goes to zero while there is still about 2 litres left.

For comparison my Tuono V4R averages 29 mpg

On the 1190R, cruising down the highway at our 110kph speeds I am getting around 45mpg (US) and 54mpg (UK). About 19km to a litre.

At get your bike impounded and go to gaol speeds, (for any police reading this, I've only ever tried on a closed track as I try to be a law abiding citizen...) it dropped to 28mpg (US) and 33mpg (UK). About 12km to the litre.

Around town I'm getting around 40mpg (US) and 48mpg (UK). About 17km to a litre.

All this is based on the bike's speedo. I haven't gps'd it.

I have no idea on alt output.

I've kept detailed records on the petrol consumption since new for my R and at the last fill, 5945km it had used 375.7 l of juice.

In uk mpg that is 44.7.

At least half of that is commuting in city traffic, 20km one way.

For tank fills, the best I've had was 52.8 mpg on a trip from Auckland to Taupo and the worst was some commuting where I was in the worst of rush hour every day for a week at 40.9 mpg.

The on board computer is optimistic and always indicated better economy that I actually get. Weirdly it isn't consistent and has varied between 5.8% and 0.6%.

I've been unable to find that information anywhere and now I see why. that's not enough for two up riding with heated gear and keep the bike riding with lights on. I was really getting excited about this bike and thinking to go buy one this week.
Looks like I'm back to the original plans of either buying a used super tenere to save money are going for broke with a new 1200 GSW.

Add it up for us, why isn't 450 watts/39 AMPS not enough? You going for the heated jump suits?

I'm getting around 6.6 liter per 100 km in city (36 mpg US / 43 mpg Imp) and 5.3 liter per 100 km highway (44 mpg US / 53 mpg Imp).

The figure of 450 watts is from the owners manual.Should be plenty,don't forget there is only a single headlamp and all the other lights are low power LED's.I run heated grips,GPS and a heated vest with no problems.

My 1190 R runs my Gerbings jacket with heated grips no problems. I was a little concerned at first that this wouldn't be possible. Not tried with heated gloves as well yet.

As a matter of interest, anyone have an idea how many amps/watts the ignition system itself uses, on any bike for that matter?

My 2014 1190R (US) has two H11's at 55 watts each (only one on when running low beam).

i have the heated grips and the heated seat plus heated gear. I have found and even last week on my Colorado trip that the heated seat does not heat up well unless the rpm is above 4k. Then it roasts your ass on and thats on low...I never run it on high setting.

The MPG varies so much i have found but the highest I have ever gotten is about 40mpg but usually right around the 32-36 area but I tend to do a lot of loaded higher speed riding, 80 is my usual cruising speed with lots of 90-95 long slabbing speeds.

Given that the ODO is off a couple percent. Trip 2 with 3800 miles shows an average of 41.2 mpg. I've exceeded 225 miles without the low fuel warning .

450 watt / 14.4v = 31amps less about 9 amps overhead = 22 amps

Just took the dullest ride ever, measured average speed 98kms/h, 4.2 L/100 or 56 us mpg over some 330 kms.

Not bad, considering my previous 990 at same conditions would go by 5.5 L...

I agree that 450 watt is a bit skimpy. TEX has 950 watt stock. We live in a digital world and I like to charge and operate all my stuff and fill an airbed when I make camp. Phone, chatterbox, garmin, grips, seat, vest, tablet, air compressor, camp light...

Would the 9 amps overhead include lights? Dip and/or main? Or just DRL?

I've never seen anything close to 14.4 volts out of my 1190R charging system.
