Alright guys, Heidenau K60 or Karoo 3 rear tire? I'm gonna start running a TKC80 on the front of the Versys.

good choice on the front, I can offer no advice on the rear, other than many people do not run the K60 until its done on the rear due to strange road manners.

10cup has one on his GS but he has cut the center strip so it isnt continuous, he might give you some good info on the tire.

    Matt,

I have not run a k60 but have had similar Mitas and Mefo rear tires. They both lasted a lot longer on the pavement then the Karoo. The Karoo was a good knobby that held well in the corners on pavement but disappeared quickly. I got 1200 miles out of it and a fair portion of that was on the back roads in Colorado, then one good weekend on the pavement back here and it was down to nothing.

Thanks! Looks like I'll go with the K60 when the time comes. I've still got a few thousand left on the 705 but that shouldn't take too long when the temperature becomes reasonable.

    Matt,

What size is the rear on the Versus? I know someone that has a few TKC 80 rears that are 18s he would unload reasonably as his Beemer requires a 17.

its hard to beat that 705 for the money I think Mattmuss.
everytire I find, and buy, and then like, seems to substanially increase in price before I buy another.

I wish knew which were good and which were bad, id buy several at a time.

Yup, the Shinkos seem to be priced right and for me they actually wear damn good. Tire prices have been on the rise the last couple years.

Yeah I've been really happy with the 705. I've got about 3500-4000 miles on it and I think I can get it to 6k-7k before I need to replace it. That's not too bad for a $85 tire that I've ridden pretty hard. I'd just like to try another tire before I settle on that one, and the K60 sounds like a good (but expensive) option from what I've read. Maybe I'll buy another 705 at the same time so they don't raise the price before I buy another :lol3

As for the front, there aren't too many aggressive options unless I wanted to put a rear on and raise the fender. I'm not sold on that right now. I've heard a lot of good things about the TKC so that's what I'll go with.

On another note, my brother bought his first motorcycle last night, a '12 KLR with some good accessories :clap He bought it from an inmate in AZ, it's a good looking bike and apparently it looks better in person. I don't know who's more excited, me or him!
