My buddy just bought a new bike. Didnt go for the tiger but bought a new 2011 white F800GS, nice looking machine and my spouse just bought a new F650GS, great. His KLR is at Custom Cycle now.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o>
Gaah....No one from Regina area yet??? Well, there's always got to be someone...Moved here last fall from Calgary ( I retired, wife didn't...she got promoted and transferred so here we are) Not set up for dual sport...Sportsters don't do well in gravel, but I'm always interested in meeting up with fellow riders. One thing I noticed last fall is there are a TON of riders here! proportionatley a lot more than in Calgary, and the local clubs/riding groups seem to be a lot more active too. It's a shame that we're gonna need either snow tires or pontoons to get any riding in this year :^(
Sweet how does he like it so far?? how does your spoue like the f650gs?? no way, regina sucks haha kidding Ive always liked the sportsters. Each year I find about ten 1200cc sportsters I would like to buy for on the road, and each year I stay with what I have, pathetic eh! Are you into dual sporting as well? Sometimes a guy can pick up a cheap older one just to rip around on. I bought my xt for 500 bucks and fixed it up and made it road legal, so it was prety cheap to start with, and on. Gonna be time to upgrade but it will do till then!
What made your friend choose the F800GS over the new Tiger? Personally, I think the F800GS is about the nicest bike going. I own an older Tiger and love the triple, so I just wonder what swayed him one way versus the other. I doubt you could go wrong with either one.
He likes to go off-road so he sat on both and the f800gs looked smaller. He didn't like the shape of the tiger's tank plus, its a bit lighter. He changed the dual-sport tires to TCK80 before taking delivery (part of the deal). Now I need some K60s on my bike!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
If I were to ever buy a new bike, it would likely be a toss up between the 800GS and the 800XC. Like I said, I'm not sure you could go wrong with either bike, it would just come down to preference and fit. For now, my old Tiger will have to do.
Regina, just moved here from SWO. KLR650. Still need to plate and insure it for the 'Land of Living Skies' Who in SK has cheap insurance for KLR's?
Plates & insurance are the same here in Saskratchyerass, get it through SGI. Depending on the year of KLR, likely around $70/month. Unless you are looking for a package police of some kind as an add-on. Seeing that you are from Regina, there is a DS group that meets Monday Nights around 6-6:15pm at the Esso on North Albert by the McDonald's.
Thanks for the info. It'll probably be hard to join the Monday meeting due to work but we'll see. I'm assuming we can get custom plates too? How much $ ? In ON it was an ass-raping $280 or so. ...but I was fool enough to pay it. Buh bye bonus cheque.
Hey guys and gals thought I would pop back in on this thread and see if anyone else has been getting out? Ive plated my bike last week and have been burning up the roads quite a bit lately! Was also seeing if there may be any interest in a meet of some sorts? I can host at my farm if there is enough interest around Saskatoon!
What are you up to this weekend Borden? I could probably swing by to say hey if your gonna be around.
