What bike next for wife?

I'm a huge triumph fan so I would say bonneville, then modify to suit your wife's tastes from a visual standpoint.

my street triple is lucky to get 45 mpg, so if mileage is important stay away from those.

Well since the street triple is out then it would have to be the Bonnie, but that certainly doesn't fit the lighter requirement.

Ninja 650 440 lbs or so
Bonnie 495 lbs

I can't think of a single retro styled bike that has a multi cylinder engine that is lighter than a Ninja 650.

Only thing that comes to mind is the TU250 and that wouldn't meet your power requirement.

New V7 Stone - bit more power, alloy tubeless wheels, available touring accessories.

Gonna be hard to find a motor that is as fun as that Kawi though; still miss mine.

You two run over to Sloan's in Murfreesboro and check out the Moto Guzzi V7. 440 lbs ready to ride if I'm not mistaken. Then hop across the road to the Harley dealership to look a Sportster with mid controls. Right about 100 lbs heavier than the V7, though. Next a stop at Castle in Madison to see the Bonneville and Scrambler. Right in the middle of the other two weight-wise.

My wife's name is Sarah... Weird.

She is largely "ignorant" of what is on the market. She is still in the "thats a nice color" phase of knowing about bikes. So I'm just trying to see if I've missed something about what is out there.

The W650 is a bike I have lusted after for awhile, my wife likes it too. Too bad they are unicorns.

My wife had a Bonneville for several years. Nice bike. She loved the look and style but was never really comfortable on it. Little too tall, lot too heavy. . Picked up a older 620 monster last month and she (we) really likes it. Cheap, Low seat, 400# wet, good style, great sound. Maint not as bad as reputation. Can be found for around $3k

She likes everything about te monster...except, she likes the red frame on her Ninja 650 better, especially the way it contrasts against the black bodywork.

In the first world, especially in places like the States where motorcycles are a recreational device, I wonder if women have a better handle on how to buy a motorcycle. HP, Torque, 1/4 mile, ... blah blah...
