The more I can carry , the more I can use it

When I'm looking at a prospective new purchase,apart from checking what it'd be like for servicing,and how crapped up/easy to clean it would be after bad weather rides,a major factor for me is how easy it would be to carry stuff on it.

You know,not necessarily outsize loads,but simple day to day stuff like the bag I take to work,or some light groceries,or my camping gear for rallies.

Most motorcycles fail miserably on these criteria....some you can't even carry a pint of milk on,or a home from work chip shop meal...unless you look at touring type barges.
And I've pretty much lost interest in motorbikes nowadays anyway.

My 650 Burgman ticks all the boxes for me.
Huge underseat stowage area plus three 'gloveboxes'.
Add in a desire to not walk about carrying my helmet and bike jacket on warm days and the Burgie wins again,especially with a topbox added.

My 'workaday' Vespa PX does fine with its bag hook and front and rear rack luggage racks that I added.

If I had a dog,there's my P200 sidecar outfit or my Urals.

Perhaps another ethically challenged individual will view the theft of your scooter as "fun". What goes around . . .

The days of free or cheap milk crates are long past with the Cellopack cartons replacing glass milk bottles. Wal mart carries some cheap milk crate wannabe's but with no reinforcement around the top edge.

Wrap some duct tape around the top - a couple of laps and it should be good to go for a year or two in the sun before it dries out.

When sent out to purchase two x 30 can packs of soft drink (Soda in the US), I can get up to 54 cans under the seat of the Burgy Exec, with the six cans remaining going into the Bestem T-Box.

However, for larger items such as the two packs of 2 mtr long steel utility floor frame kit and the Ketter plastic cabinet pack that I bought from Aldi - then my 48" x 34" narrowed Easy Trailer 830TA comes into play. Usually this trailer serves duty to transport my kayak to lake-side areas.

There's the downside on scoots without a flat floor.
A couple a cases of soda/beer get dropped on the floor of my RV200, no packing stuff in. Massive under seat storage for anything else.

Here are a few more , at first you think WOW that thing is huge . But after you get used to it , you start thinking I wish I would have made it bigger .
Naturally with one of these boxes installed you can't carry a passenger .

If you look at the pic of the custom black BR you'll see I actually had that one made 4 inches deeper and 3 inches wider .

After reading your thread today I decided to make my Vino a bit more useful as a grocery-getter. I didn't want to spend much so I went with a milk crate and some zip ties. Man, it feels good having the extra carrying capacity. I don't give a hoot how it looks, though to my eye it doesn't look too bad.

To start, I had to do some cutting otherwise I couldn't access the gas cap. I used a hacksaw blade. Took me about five minutes to cut out by hand.

This guy lives near me, we've ridden together several times. He's a nice guy. He rides a Burgman a lot recently.


I never particularly liked hardcases. I used to think they were awesome, but after having a ridiculously huge topcase for a while, I feel like they're bulky and add a lot of weight. I much prefer the option to remove my luggage.

I added an aftermarket rear rack and can strap so much cargo on there in rolltop bags or backpacks that it's silly.



There's a backpack strapped on the rolltop waterproof bag on the back. I could strap another backpack on the seat, and another couple bags on top. The tunnel bag holds a bunch of crap too, and I can fit a full face helmet + jacket under the seat (though my current helmet's visor makes it a bit too big).

I'm going to take it to get powdercoated pearlescent or black sometime soon; the paint on there now is flaking off.

Small scoot with topbox and bikers friend roll bag. Add in the floor space and the little scoot really gets it done.
