If I can find another windscreen I might try that. I do like the looks of the Yamaha touring screen. I'll have to check if they are still available. Thanks for the info guys.

Has anyone here tried a power commander? From what Ive seen the reviews are pretty positive (More mpgs, better low and midrange)

Just wanted to see if anyone has tried it and wants to give an opinion:ear

sooo.. after several months of contemplating on what bike to get (Sportster 883, XR1200, NC700, GSXF650) i finally settled for 2005 FZ6.

    2 questions..

im thinking of occasional commute with it during summer @ 110F+ on normal traffic condition - i know its a bad idea and i know it will be a major discomfort for me - but will the bike overheat?

has anyone tried using Puig racing windscreen? does it lessen the wind buffeting/wind noise? for reference im 5'9" 30 inseam.

after researching over the net - i realize that wind buffeting is FZ6 problem.

Have you ridden one? Don't believe everything you read on the internet...I don't have any buffering issues with my stock screen.

yes. i owned a 2005. ok sorry.. i mean the wind noise. i mistook buffeting as wind noise. for reference - i have 2 helmets xlite = loud whistling sound, dual sport afx fx39 = howling noise. on both helmet - vents were close. and im wearing my size.

hi, having owned alot of sport /standard bikes with frame mounted half fairing and short shields i would tell you get yourself a decent size tank bag slap in on and go for a good ride .it really does help .

^ thanks for the tip. how tall should the tank bag be? i assume taller than the windshield? actually, im thinking of getting a tank bag - im choosing between Cortech Super 2.0 18L or Joe Rocket Manta XL.

Doesn't have to be that big, it just occupies some space and removes the negative air pressure pocket between you and the windscreen.

I have the old cortech mini, which is 8L. 18L sounds effing humongous to me, but I have hard luggage for real hauling, and just use the tank bag for odds and sods. 12L sounds good though, with a place to route a camelback tube. I'd want to test fit the 18 to make sure I could see over it and it didn't interfere with the bars at full lock.

^ thanks man.. 18L i believe can be expand/compress using a zipper. but for the price and purpose - i am considering 12L.

I sat on one at the motorcycle show. It felt nice. I think they should have made it more like the fz6 with some kind of fairing, though.

It's a bit different than the Fz6, it's more like a naked streetfighter than a middleweight sport tourer :deal. My personal opinion is that I would prefer a triumph street triple over teh fz8, but that's just me. That headlight is a bit of an eyesore

It is a sleeved down FZ1 motor in the FZ1 chassis, so you'd probably be better off in an FZ1 thread.

I did read a magazine article that said they updated it for 2013 with considerably better suspension, so that may be something to keep in mind.

Is that a left-over or the new one with the upgraded suspension bits?

2012..................The suspension on any sport bike is better than I am.
