Good luck on getting your part. It really sucks when you have to delay your trip due to waiting. I ordered tires, (4 of them), from Ski of TriQuestCycles out of Santa Clara, CA. for both our Urals when we rode up to Alaska last month via the ALCAN and had the tires meet us in Tok, AK. at the Sourdough Campground. This was nice. The tires came and we did not have to delay our trip.
Have a safe and good trip.
We did pass you up there going the other way. One white and one green Ural.
    Your ride report is excellent.

Bet that tall cabin was made with Lodgepole pines, amazing trees....
Insulated buildings speak of mighty cold weather in the off seasons.....must take a huge amount of energy to warm them up.
    No food??????
Amazing steam boat, only when Sharon is beside it is the size of it readily apparent....would have been a blast to have been around in those days...I watched a video of four guys who built a raft similar to ones the prospectors used and cruised the length of the Yukon river, it took three years....hard to move in the winter.......
    No food??????
The Arctic tern was a beautiful little bird, I wonder if they migrate and if so, to where in the winters....
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Tern
Wow! They do! Only landing to breed and nest.
Bummer to wait for parts but then you'll be good to go for awhile....
    No food??????

You had to be there Wngnut...... Actually it's a tie between the scenery and the gastronomic interludes...now, I'm on a diet right now....so guess what I see when I open a report.....it's like watching a peep show......look but can't touch....:rofl:cry

One helluva paddle wheeler though....what a beauty.....(wonder what they ate on those things....moose?) Reminds me of the Delta Queen on the Mississippi river....that was fun!! Much smaller boat though...

Another 25 C day here in the Yukon that to my surprise has a population of only 23,000 souls while amassing 186,661 square miles. Brutal Winters....??

This is it: That's our daily Java hang-out.......Starbucks n' Tim Horton be gone!!

Slowly limped to a car wash to give the loyal dependable rig a scrub down..

Of course, I was careful not to powerspray blast sensitive BMW electronics, seals, etc, just gave them a surface wash..

Headed to Wally-Mart and inquired whether I could do my oil and filter change in the parking lot. "Of course" was their reply and offered us even a catch bowl and paper towels. So, I purchased Mobil 1-15/50

Testament of what Calcium Chloride(CaCl2) on gravel roads do to bikes. With generated heat the chemical reacts and sticks like concrete to your pipes. Powerwashing won't do. Plan on chiselling it off in Fairbanks as there's more on the way to Chicken, AK..

I wonder what I would look like with a trim? I've had a beard for thirteen years or more. My wife took a shot of me in the shop yesterday.

I'm really liking your trip. Hopefully Daina and I can do something similar someday. If I ever get my sidecar finished. I've been working on it for about 9 months now. Hopefully I'll have it on the road at the end of July.

Thanks for the food pictures. Were on a diet also. Have to lose weight!!!

    Keep up the fun!!!

Stoned Terns, now that's a concept....:rofl In the picture the Tern is sitting on a stone, will that do? But then it would be a Ternstone and not a StonedTern.
In the picture of the Tern on a post, that would be a PostTern or a TernPost.....
And then, no doubt, the Tern flying above obviously has a joint in it's little red beak, so now we have a:
    1. A StonedTern bogarting to a PostTern
    2. A TernStoned passing one to a TernPost
    3. Actually Two Stoned Terns but then
    4. TwinStonedTerns passing a joint which would make it a ....
    5. TwoStonedTerns on a Post or..in the case of the first picture,
    6. A StonedTernStoned.......or....
    7. A Stoned StoneTern
    Now, who's on First?
    StonedKoi,
    Koistoned,
    Aaawwww shit....You started it Shaun.....:freaky:wink::lol3

Oh, well..the part w-a-s supposed to be here today instead it went from:

    Seattle..>..Calgary..>..Ontario..>..New Brunswick... ????

UPS tracking says...."wrong routing.."..."power of attorney missing???"

So much for efficient UPS delivery in Canada....:dog :dog :dog

We've stopped drinking at Starbucks and are making instant coffee/breakfast cereal in Yukon water....

    Called Canadas UPS 800 number....

Here's the scoop. The part is NOT being send to New Brunswick...even though tracking says so?? The part is in transit; was shipped off last Monday and should be here this Friday(7/10). It takes according to Canada UPS 4 transit days to ship/fly/rocket/crawl/or pony express things to Whitehorse.

While I have a plain GS, I've watched with great interest as you & Mikepa have gotten the hacks built. Now it's even better getting to share your adventure and pictures. Hmm, does one need a special license for a vicarious ride? Have thought about hacking my GS but there would be a big fight over does the wife or dog (large German Shephard) get the sidecar? Sorry for your mechanical troubles. Always frustrating. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I look forward to each new set of pics & hope to make it to Alaska someday. . . if the wife & dog ever settle their arguement. :wave

    Hi all...

Jay at Dauntless is making a valiant effort for UPS to find the shipment and send it here. So far no go! He has even called the UPS brass!

UPS tracking says it went from Seattle....Calgary....Ontario...Fredrickton, NB....Ontario, Calif...; Sioux Falls....Kentucky.....etc. Dunno what is happeneing.

If no part by tomorrow we'll move to a campground and Tenting it till Monday. If no part by Monday, we're seriously thinking of parting the Tub from the hip of the Tug. Shipping the Tub at great expense to the US and ride home solo.

Warning: Do not use USA UPS or even UPS CANADA to cross borders.

    Cheers
