I just read some interesting stuff at webbikeworld about Falco boots, but I had never heard of them before. Seems like the "Raid" boots are a pretty good alternative to the much spendier Sidi On Roads.
I kind of like the whole line. They all seem pretty sturdy, and they all seem pretty cheap, but I can't find much in the way of first-person testimonials, as it were.
We have been importing them and working with the company for about 5 years now. We are a small internet based company and one reason is because we only really import 2 brands. Falco and Spark. Spark is the best technical underwear as it uses Dryarn and most don't have side seams. Plus we have the product on a lot of people and also quit a few racers that abuse the gear pretty good. I will try and get the user name changed and will be on here more and more. Please ask me any questions. Thanks Todd
I'm interested in the Falco Misto. Seems like a good replacement for a pair of Vendramin Marathon's I have now that are a little worn out.
I have heard about Falco boots thru some other forums but can't recall where now...? However I heard postive things about Todd as well so welcome to the forum and get us more data... http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-boots/falco-boots/falco-305-eso-tt-boots/
I learned of Falco's at another forum. So, I took a chance on the 110 Volts. Criteria: I wanted good protection for 40% off pavement VStrom riding, mid-height, easy on/off the foot and something I could hike in. The Volts were comfortable out of the box. True to size, solid construction all the way around and not heavy. I only added an aftermarket gel sole pad as I do with any boot. I rode to the backside of Zion NP last weekend and hiked 6 miles in sand, over rocks, through streams, etc. The Volts performed better than my usual hikers! I'm going to add the 412 Mixto's for longer rides. Oh and a shout out for AMG and Todd. I fired them an email on a Saturday with a few questions not expecting to get a reply until Monday. Less than 2 hours later, Todd calls with full on answers - nice. No affiliation. Just sharing a good thing.
I'm going to give the 480 'Raid' a try. I liked the webbikeworld review - they seem like a good all-purpose riding boot with good protection, waterproof liner, and has a nice look - somewhere between a touring and a dual sport boot. The price is right, too (actually seem to be on sale for $211 vs $235). Taking a chance on the sizing - Todd from AMG told me he thinks they run a bit small, so I'm going to order one size up. The size I need isn't in stock right now but I'll post up some thoughts after I get them, hopefully in a few weeks.
I'm pulling the trigger on a pair of Falco Yukons today. I was glad to hear the positive feedback about Todd at AMG. I need something with a lower profile for my 05' sporty mid controls and these waterproof urban styled boots will fit the bill. I'll post again with an update.
I am happy to report that the Falco's arrived and the quality is as good as any Italian made motorcycle boot I have seen. The boots were very light weight and the styling is something akin to a Blundstone below the ankle. With a pair of jeans on, you would never know you had riding boots on. As far as protection goes, they seem to meet the requirements. Solid ankle and shin protection and with a zipper closure, gives you that snug secure fit. Alas, the ankle was too slim of a design for my thick legs and had to return them as there was no way to get these done up. Dealing with Todd at AMG was a pleasure. Upon reporting my dilemma, Todd took the time to review with me other boot options and went through his inventory, boot by boot trying to help me find what I was after. In the end, a return and refund was in order. Thanks again Todd!
