I'm taking the big red mama (XRL) to Baja tomorrow for a nice 7 day ride. WOO HOO! She has been before and performed well.
The powder coat changes from green to gold to red , but depends on a few things also tilts back 30 degrees
Minor mod needed. If you added a rack in the bottom then you could keep your cooler on the chair and add some weight low so that there was no danger of tipping over. Please send the prototype to my addy and I will stress test for you. No charge for my engineering services.
Of course i will send a case of beer and a box of stoogies to make sure you have the correct environment That chair has been allot of funjust thought you guys might get a kick out of it
It looks like a real hoot. Of course you are going to send good beer and cigars from south of Key West, right.
I've mentioned before, but I live in TJ. If you get stuck somewhere send me a PM or email and I'll see what I can do. I'm going to be at FT Hunter Liggett all week until friday so don't break down until the weekend. I have a van/ramp for extraction and border crossing and tools and beer at the house if needed.
When are you heading to FHL? If you get stuck around the Ventura/LA/SB county area call me. I have truck and ramps I can get you to my garage with some tools. I am looking at hitting Carrizo on my big bike on Sunday, if you are coming up then, I can show you some of our area. PM sent
I'm commuting on the GW. I'm going up there for work, 4x10's M-Th. I want to get the trailer setup so i can take the XR up there for a week. Looks like alot of good spots to get in trouble, but the GW needs to get wired up, and trailer needs to get reg'd and the rail and boxes installed on the trailer.... so, not sure how that's going to work out for me yet....
Thanks Jeremy! There will be two XRL's and one XRR. We have rented a satellite phone for just in case.
Hello XRL owners. I recently bought a very nicely set up 2006 XR650L. I bought it to do more trail riding as my 1150 GSA is just too heavy for that kind of riding and I realized its the kind or riding I would like to do more of. The bike I bought came with all the stuff to convert it to a Supermoto type bike but I have no desire to do this conversion. I will list all the parts I can think of and would like to know what they are worth if sold as a parcel. CR USD forks Two sets of fork clamps with stems and bearings, one looks like its from a CR and the other is a billet aluminum aftermarket. handlebar mounts for billet aluminum triple tree Excel 17" front and back aluminum rims Avon Distanza tires brand new never mounted Stainless Spokes to fit Excel rims to stock hubs Brake disc to fit on USD forks so what's all that stuff worth? Thanks for your input...... I will list it all for sale in the appropriate Flea Market area once I have a better understanding of its value. Pete
After using spud rollers for a while and tiring of the noise, I replace one of them with a shock absorber bushing I had in the shop. I lined the inside with a metal sleeve I "sourced" from Ace Hardware. Since I wasn't entirely confident in the bushing, I left one spudroller in there. Verdict so far is that the shock bushing is wearing pretty fast, but they are so cheap, I may continue to use them.
Just be careful riding on base. The local talk is they are death on motorcycles and have radar speed traps set up along the roadways you can't see until it's too late.
Indeed, the Spud Rollers are noisy. The Spud Rollers wear very well, but the chain guide will crack from the impact of the drive chain on the mounting bolts unless it is reinforced. Spud
