I just got Progressive 440 HDs and Metzler ME880s put on my 06 883R. NOW, I have a bike I like. Still scrapes a bit in some corners, but is much more stable and confident in the corners.

That along with the the Supertrapps makes this bike a pleasant longer distance bike for me. Now to get some saddlebags...

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, what is best for big and tall?

I switched the bars on my Roadster to some narrower bars from another model, keeping the stock mirrors.

Also installed Vibrinators so I have a pretty good view at just about all rpms. But the view is of my shoulder to elbow.

On the V-Strom they sell "Mirror offsets" that widen the mirror base by a couple of inches so that we large humans can see.

Are there aftermarket mirrors or something to offset the stockers?

Turn them down, 48 style. I did it on my Roadster and am extremely happy with the result.

Too far from the primary line-of-site for me: I live in a city.

Give it a try! It’s 5 minutes job and they actually work way better than in the "correct" position.

    BTDT, not even close .

I bought some long-stem rectangular mirrors made by V-Twin Manufacturing.

They do work way better in that position than the stock set up... if...
you have the luxury of time to lower your head and scope them out.

In heavy urban traffic, you'd be having your way with the tail end of a bus or a cab.

sweet. can't believe Harley sells it with the oil cooler hanging off the side. so much for that blow hard phony willie G and his digs on Honda.

note that ones got the cooler behind the light.

I'm sure the V&H pipes are nice but this is how its done.

Anyone use a tank bag on a Sportster?

Took my first 100 mile trip yesterday. 48 mpg.

Yes, I use a magnetic Joe Rocket Manta on my sporty. It works great to hold some tools, extra gloves, small items, etc. They cost about $45.

Nice bike Garandman, love those Roadsters!

    Here, for now...

I use the same Joe Rocket Manta on my Sporty, especially when the saddle bags are off and I need to carry a few things. Works great and is not too big on the 3.3 gallon tank.

I put blue, light tack, painting tape over the metal tank to prevent scratching the paint when using a tank bag. There are a variety of back racks and back rests that can be added to better support the pack and not risk scratching the tank.

I've had my Sportster for about a month now and have put about 600 miles on it since changing it back to the stock mid-controls, including one 200 mile day. The next order of business will be bags and a seat. I am 5'8", 145; are there any seat options that would sit a little higher and a little more forward? The stock seat is fairly comfortable if I sit all the way back in the bucket, but in that position I have very little bend in my arms, which gets old. The Sundowner or Mustang touring seats look like they would be a big improvement but was hoping somebody would have personal experience with them before I pull the trigger.
