I have yet to pay more than $500 for a motorcycle. Non running 95 yz125 just sold, great bike. Non running 87 454ltd, free on craigslist, got it running for 200. No pics sadly. Non running 83 cb550sc nighthawk, 200 bucks. And finally a non running 92 fzr600, currently mid streetfighter, paid 300.
You'll dig that. Your load/unload will be a lot less "interesting" than out of the bed of your 4X4 truck and skinny assed ramp
Dont beat me up too bad for posting this here. It is small but gets my 230 lbs up to 55 mph on the flats. It will get 100 mpg putting around too. 2010's are $2495. I just bought this New 08 Symba. It had 8 miles on it and I picked it up for $1500 from a dealer thats quiting the business. It was a demo that was brought over for the introduction of the SYM Symba for the US. There are a few differences on this one that don't meet the DOT requirements like our 2010 Symba. There's no engine kill switch on the throttle control handle, there is an off and on switch for the headlight, and chrome turn signals without the long stalks on them. Sweet bike!!
I guess it's about time I toss in at least ONE of the many I've bought that qualify. I picked up this Vision from a small independent bike shop. they couldn't get it running properly, and got tired of looking at it. It had BRAND NEW tires on it. I paid $ 200 for it. It came with some crash bars that I immediately pulled off, and sold on ebay for $ 100, shrinking my buy in to only $ 100. The gas tank was rusted, so I did do a little fiberglass work to re-seal it. The poor running turned out to be a missing flapper valve door in the airbox. I scored a replacement for $ 10.
Got this '74 CB450 (with 1,500 miles) last spring for 1K. Needed a bit of carb work but runs like a champ now!
you should of seen me, the seller and my wife load up a lowered hayabusa last december on a friday night@ 11 pm. 15 degrees out, six inches of ice and snow on the ground, and in a college apartment complex. then add dodging drunks, papa john and jimmy john delivery drivers. gives me the ability to pick up more than one if i'm on a road trip. could really come in handy. i think new they retail for about $1500.00.
This was sitting for the past 14 years. I bought it for $300. I spent about 100 hours getting all the goo (oil, break fluid, gas) out and cleaning it up. I had to replace most of the crome parts. Total i have about $700 into the bike. I actually wanted a 400F but could not find one in my area.
Fully built for $650: Build thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=656491 I might spend another coupla hundred on this and that.
HELL of a bike for the price!! I used to want the newer one, with the fairing. Think they had duel discs on that one too.
Here is my entry a 1991 Suzuki GSF400 Bandit. Got it for 1500$ only thing that it needed was a new RR. http://www.flickr.com/photos/15372004@N03/5650664228/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/15372004@N03/5650101723/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/15372004@N03/5650667654/
85 bmw k100lt. bought form original owner, 18,000 miles. new odyssey pc680, aired up the tires, fresh gas. runs/rides great. $1500.00
...has become one of my favorites for sure. Recently realized that by clicking on new posts at the top of the page was a great way to discover new topics.
i just picked up this 1981 suzuki gs650l for 300$ clean title and it runs like a champ after some new plugs and an oil change.. it has new tires on it and a fairly recent paint
D'oh... that one makes me envious. Been looking for a CB-1 for about 4 years, and they're either piles of rusted, dented, beaten poo, or the owner thinks the bike is plated in gold ~ sometimes Both.
