check out the gal in the vintage gear on the ground in the center.

she was shooting between the legs of the guy standing right in front of her who is Rick from OCC. Mike from OCC is to the left of the 68 saddlebag.

he was talking about his horn last night. he said they asked him if he had a horn during tech/sign in, whatever they do, but they didn't ask him if it worked. :rofl

Just noticed a farkle on Doug's bike that I hadn't seen before. Look just to the left of the horn...a cigarette lighter:D Man after my own heart. Not nearly as cool as the custom tool case/hammer holder on the back though. That is sweet.

Ride safe man....I think you've got a good chance in this thing.

Caught up with Doug in Wellsboro tonight. Saw the Indian parked in front of the auto parts store entering town, it was thirsty...

first day was nice, rolling hills & no traffic. bike did fine.
tomorrow will suck, as for some damn reason they have us going thru cleveland on I90 for 65 miles.
I dunno whose idea that was.

I see someone got a pic of me being interviewed for TV or something.
I made the camera guy laugh pretty good when he asked me how important bikes were in my life.
I said 'well, I like bikes more than wimmen,
I have about 35 bikes, and only one woman!'

it was great to meet some of you guys today. Sorry if I couldnt talk for long, but as you know, I was a bit busy

Shawn, thanks again for the wrench, I used it already :lol3

    First off , Go , Doug , go !

On a different note, I just read in one of the BMW riders blog about a fellow BMW team that needed and didn't have a tool to remove a special 8-sided nut holding a wheel bearing on their rear wheel. One of the team went to OCC and showed them what they needed and the guys at OCC water-jetted the piece out and welded it to a 3/8 drive socket for them.
Pretty cool and shows that even though the TV image is , uh , there are decent folks in the building, motorcycle folks.

I wish I could get up to the route to see the rolling party !

    Again , Go Doug !

I wondered how they were going to get you guys through Cleveland. I figured they would just have you stay on U.S. Route 6 even though that would take you through some shady areas on the east side. At worst I thought they'd have you take US-6 to I-271 which branches into I-90/OH-2 to get through the east side of Cleveland, then simply follow OH-2 when it branches off until it crosses US-6 on the west side of town so you could then run along the lake shore all the way to Sandusky. At least that way you would have only been on the interstate for about 18 miles.

Good news is that even during rush-hour the traffic on I-90 isn't bad in Cleveland. Worst case is you might get slowed up for a couple minutes at Dead-Mans Curve, but I never saw traffic come to a complete stop unless there was an accident when I was living up there.

BTW, there's a few spots along I-90 after the exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Drive where you can get douched if the waves on the lake are up (as can be seen in this clip at about the 2:10 mark). :lol3

    got raingear?

We are expecting thunderstorms from now through much of the morning in the Cleveland area. If you post here in the morning, what time do you think you'll be rolling through Cleveland and how far are you going on I-90 before they let you off? I'm on the West side about 10 minutes south of I-90 & Rt.83.

We've had severe storms in Indiana since yesterday afternoon. It's still raining...

Might need a life preserver instead of a rain coat.

Anyone got any guestimates on the route from Sandusky to Grand Rapids? So many options. I'd at least like to find a spot to take a couple pictures of them riding by.

Doug is still riding in reverse. That's giving up too much to the competitors. No wonder we lost the War of Northern Aggression..
    Anyway, keep the photos coming.

Coincidentally found myself in Wellsboro while my girlfriend runs an ultramarathon.

Weather looks rough today but it was cool to see Doug and the rest of the riders

...but maybe riding backwards like that will keep the water out of his eyes! Brilliant! :freaky
