Regardless of the date I'm IN :thumb
I had a lot of fun riding with Keith, Paul, and Chris last year.

I plan to do the same thing this year: Truck the bike up, stay in the group campground, and eat the great food.

Might have to go to Africa that weekend but just in case I don't, I'm putting myself IN !

This was an amazing event last year and I hope it grows and grows. Dean and his 'crew' made everything magically happen and it was a fun, memorable weekend !

I'm trucking/eating with ya all/sleeping in my rig in the parking lot.

    Thanks..Jonathan (cme4lyt)

As you all know we aren't sponsoring any official rides. However, I think it's
fine to post your ideas for rides so other people have an idea what they
    can do.

So I'll start. On Friday of the rally I'm thinking of doing a ride to Covelo
for lunch. Couldn't do it last year with all the snow but that doesn't
look like it's going to be a problem this year.

My idea is to head northeast on the M6, to the M61 and 311. Hook up with FH-7
and head west to Covelo. Have lunch, fuel up and head back to camp
    on the M1 for dinner.

Saturday I'll be riding the trails around camp since I'll be tending to the smoker
    most of the day.

Those are my ideas, anybody else?

I know if I'm able to ride (had surgery on my wrist) I'm hitting that single track that had all the video carnage last year. :evil ixab and CRW know what I'm talking about.

Marcia and will probablly join Dean Friday

I also want to take Marcia on a ride over across bear creek to Letts lake and take a swim

Wow you didn't get to bag on me for two posts and ya bailed. Too bad cuz I gots to make this one Joel but damn next year you will make it........ for a couple days on the in list before posting your out. Ok ok i'm done but the way it's going Joel may not see ya this year darn it. Cory it's your wrist now that don't give you much recoupe time to hit the single track. You may just be in the sidecar which is probably safer. If you guys need any help or anything packed up don't ask me. Just joking with ya I should have plenty of room and are we paying yet I guess I could check on page one but too lazy.

That sounds like a fun ride for Friday, count me in.

For Saturday I would want to loop out to the east and back around to the south on fire roads (likely the route that SFMCjohn recommended below). Nothing hectic, but looking for a good loop and nice views along the way. Any suggestions (route numbers, etc.) welcomed.

Would love to make this, and looks like I can, as long as it works out as May 3rd - 6th ... Hopefully Cary can make it too ... will give me some motivation to work on the KLR ... ha.

Thanks for taking the lead on this unorganized Mendo Rally mootsuno and hotmamaandme!

    Hi r3r3r,
I'll have to look at a map to put some names to those roads when I get back into town ... one of them is M-10 which goes from Stoneyford to the Bear Creek crossing just before Lake Pillsbury (Soda Creek lunch on OMC's Sheetiron Dual Sport Ride) ...

    See you around the campfire!

    list up dated

As of 2-24-12 we have 40 people on the sign up list. 50 is the limit at the group site per PG&E. 12- 14 trucks so parking is near full at the group campsite. There is additional parking at the boat ramps but you wont be able to see or sleep in your truck at the ramp. If you can car pool that would be great or ride in.

    Cory / Dean,

Post #1 still lists the dates as "Tentative". Folks will be more comfortable paying knowing if those dates are now "Firm".

    Hey Joe,

That's why we're not collecting any $ yet. We have to make sure the
sight is going to be open. 99% it will be, but we have to confirm it
with PG&E and they can't confirm yet.

We'll know in a couple of weeks.

My bad. I started seeing payment info in Post #2 and thought it was time to start paying. Now I see that the PP address hasn't been posted yet and Cory's note about the dates.

    Hi Dean,
Put me down as maybe/not sure.
I have to wait for my life to settle down before I can commit.
I would be riding in on my KLR if I can make it.
I just wanted to get my name in to help visualize it.
    Thanks for herding the cats.

    Hi mootsuno,

Here's some route ideas about getting to Lake Pillsbury on Thursday from the south ...

I'm trying to get to some dirt asap, and trying to avoid traffic and highways ... this is generally the way I get to Lake Pillsbury or Stoneyford ...

It is a 200 mile route (from San Francisco) that does the water crossings on the Berryessa-Knoxville Road, the jeep trails in the Knoxville Recreation Area (~10 miles of dirt) to Reiff-Rayhouse Roads (dirt), to Walker Ridge, Bartlett Springs, Twin Valley, French Ridge and Deer Valley (dirt) ... it is all easy, fire road stuff ... French Ridge and Deer Valley avoids the creek crossing on Twin Valley at the hot spring and the Bear Creek crossing, but that is a fun way to go if the water is low ...

An overview, showing Hwy 101 and I-5 ...
Knoxville Recreation Area, Reiff Road, Rayhouse Road to Rt. 16 at Cache Creek
    [IMG]
Rt 20 to Walker Ridge Road to Bartlett Springs Road ...
Bartlett Springs Road to Twin Valley Road to French Ridge and Deer Valley to Elk Mountain Road and Lake Pillsbury ...

Here's a pic of the gate at Reiff Road and Rayhouse Road at the Yolo County line that's been open and closed in May over the years ...

This gate ruins this route for me when it's closed ... The bail out I do when the gate is locked is Lower Lake, Upper Lake to High Glade-Pitney Ridge-Deer Valley-Elk Mountain ... or Bartlett Springs-Twin Valley etc.

I think that all makes sense ... love to hear about other ways to get up north! Or recent route reports ...

    See you around the campfire,

    Hi Dean,

noticed on the IN list you have me listed twice.

First in the 11-20 group as Zeegman and the 31-40 list as zeegman.

Please remove my name from 31-40 list and keep the Zeegman in the 11-20 list with Zeegman / trucking / group camping / dinners

    thanks,

    Mike Z
