Now ya'll have heard me talk about Mark and Charlyne..
    AKA HotGlue and FlamingoBabe..

They could only stay a week ....I did my best to be done in the garden while they were here... But still had a few things to put up...
But Char is always there to lend me a hand :clap

After a week of day rides and good food and friendship and conversion. The week flew...

Then we all went to our buddies BBQ for the weekend over in TN...
We only had a 100 plus miles to get to our buddies place so we loaded up the bikes ,ours for the weekend ,HG & FB for there trip back to TX..

    Mark checking his GPS

With HB taking point we felt that a cut through the woods was in order for the day..
Passing the Ostrich farm down the road from us..

They that Mark behind me ..

Then at the base of Va 16

We went up Va16 aka Back of the Dragon

    Taking pic on the fly...

Then we cut through 91 . And they are working at the bridge still...

Ya have got to love my back yard...

    Great views..

    On 42 now I do believe ..

There are always cool farms, to take pic of..

One of the by passes that HB likes to take to sneak around some of the small cities..

This looks like the backside of The Snake heading to ETown..(ElizabethTown)

That is a nice curvy road too..

Now it's getting really hot out .. Yeah yeah I know .. His coat is on the bike...

I do beleive we are on 321 .. Charlyne is really enjoying her Spyder..

    Mark has now taken point..

We have arrived to our friends place in TN..
Charlyen is once again ready t lend a hand ...
Don't ya just love her Flamingo hat ..

A Spyder pulled this trailer !!!

This cool little dog was there once again..But with red hair in stead of blue from last year..

He rides on the Spyder with his owner..

Also this little fella was there.. A cute Ferret.. And he too rides ...

There was a good size crowd at the BBQ.. HB and I left early and headed back to the hotel..
HG & FB stayed a little longer as it was also a Spyder event..

Looking down the valley in TN..

The next day we rode a little with Mark and Charlyne ,as the day was so nice for early fall...
We had breakfast together ... Then we all went our separate ways..
We will not see them till spring of 2013....

    Greetings WWS,, :wave
I have been in/to Paducah many times ...
I love the area "Land between the Lakes"..

Our Valkyrie club had it huge yearly rally there twice 04 and 05 ..The killer was it's in July Way to friggin hot..
We had our ScooterDog cart and worked the rally..At one time I had a 7lbs bag of ice on my head, trying to cool off while I slung hotdogs & BBQ. back in 05

This at the Riverboat we all had a big supper there..

Outside of the hotel parking lot..

Riding early in the morning ...When it was nice and cool out..

This is probably one of my all time favorite pic from that early morning day ride,

And of course we stopped to see the Buffalo..

Ride to Metropolis..Ya have to do this silly stuff every now and then..

And at the of the rally ..

Our friends from MI Stude and his lovely bride Kathy

Then I grabbed this cool night shot of 300 valk march.. Note HB and I were up front.. So we pulled out of line t take a few pic..
Also that was the first time I had ever jumped my bike ... We did a beer/booze run And well they have these odd medians in KY..
Well it was dark. And as we had to cross over the traffic.. In a small group of 6 valks.. Yuppers you got it I hit that curb thingy and my Beast went flying !!! The dang thing jumped right over the other curb and landed right where it should have in the group..
My buddy Dana watched it and said Dang I have never seen a Valk Jump like that !!! Thank goodness nothing got bent or broke!!!
So yes My Dragon can Fly!!!!

I did grab this cool sunset shot from our balcony of the Ohio river with a huge barge on it..

    One more Sunset shot...

To bad I can't find a pic of the ScooterDog cart...

LD...some good looking shots of you and HB there...looks like a good time was had. Were those taken in the casino?

Looking at some of your travels, I would have been surprised if you had not at least been through Paducah. Got to cross the Ohio River somewhere. I agree, the LBL (Land Between the Lakes) is one of my favorite areas...170,000 acres of pretty much nothing but woods. The Trace (road the buffalo were on) is a pretty nice ride down to Dover, TN as well.

If your travels bring you to the area again, give me a heads up...would like to meet both of you.

We had plan on leaving early, but our Scooter cat changed our plans…..
Don let her out at 4 am and she didn’t come in till 8:30!!!! Bad kitty…
Ok so a little later then we wanted to leave…That meant we might not make it to Lafayette LA. in one run….

Now your wonder what in the world is LD pointing at??
    Will come back to that…..

Ok back on the trip…I just love the long morning shadows..

It was cold!!! At 9am it was still 22*

We both had all of our gerbings on from socks to gloves and everything in between.…

Outside of the cold ,it looks to be a fine day…
By late morning it started to warm up nicely …

By afternoon we made our first food stop..

It sure was a grand afternoon for a longgg ride..

We got to . This place had huge catpaw prints all over the place ..Kinda cool..

This was our last fuel stop for the night, we still felt good so we ran out the tanks..

We got to Slidell La..I guess it was about 750 miles…
HB started loading his bike and I did mine as well..

We didn’t hit it super early .Left the motel around 7 am…

Dang I-12 is long and straight~~ This was our first trip to La…

Then I-10. Yuppers just as straight…

I was really amazed on all the tree damage…I’m not sure which Hurricane damage it was from..

We rode for a while then fueled up ,Oh boy a Gator store .. Bummer not that kind..

We couldn’t find a place to eat there.. So we got back on the slab and found a MickyDee’s Not the best choice but it will have to do… The cool thing is it’s Halloween weekend and well this fella was all ready for the little kiddies.. And having fun to boot..

After having coffee and a snack.. We are back on the highway..
Hey would ya look at that.. It’s a Budweiser Plant !!!

This was a new and strange looking land for us …And we were totally enjoying the ride, even if we are on the super slab....

Yee Haw 24 miles to Baton Rouge !!! The funny thing Garth Brooks song had just finished playing on my MP3 !!

    I thought I saw a Gator down there !!!!

Yuppers we saw a small gator there….

This area and long bridge that goes over the swamp is very cool..

    A little factoid { we had chatted with HotGlue on the webs for years ,but this was the first time we had ever met face to face.. And it has been one of the most wonderful friendships .. That I’m truly thankful about..}

That looks like Boudin Blanc LD.... pork sausage without the pork blood. Basically a pork & rice dressing in sausage form.
    :puke1...Can't say I like it myself....was it good ?

Big hotel indeed. I thought that looked like the Executive Inn parking lot. It has since been torn down. Needed it.

It has been a long time since I hauled any hay......don't miss it a lick. Penny a bale back in the day.

Nice update on the Swamp ride!

Well I have never eaten any critters in my life...
So if it has critters in it .. I don't eat it :lol3

Oh they had Blood Boudin there too...
It didn't pop open like this one did ..
And well as you can see I wanted that funky shot...

From what I can remember everyone liked it...

WWS... Yes that's it ... And I agree it needed to be torn down...
The ceiling fell down in our first room.. They had to move us to another one...

Yeah...that sort of thing was common there. Executive Inn was a bizarre place...400+ rooms & built on the cheap inside the floodwall. What could go wrong?:lol3 The only time it ever filled up was during the annual quilt show when little old ladies from all over the world descended on it. So much so that all of the mens restrooms save one were closed to men. No shit...they placed covers over all of the urinals and opened them to the ladies.

Our club had it just about filled both times...
    I kept getting lost inside...

My mate would say what happened to you..
I would just look at him.. I made a wrong turn off the elevator..
Or I would get out on the wrong floor ...:lol3
Thank Goodness I don't get lost like that, when I'm out and about . :ricky
It's odd that happens to me every time I get into Hotels ...

HB thought I was joking ... Well he got to see it first hand this year...
We are in an elevator ,the door opens I just get out... The wrong floor..:lol3
I think it has to do with I hate elevators with a passion..
To me it like I press the button on the floor I want.. Why in hell should it open on another floor..So door opens I leave it ..

LOL yes I make sure there's a floor to step on..
I so much rather take stairs (But in some places they are NOT safe)...

Only did about a 50 miler .. Have to pick up a few groceries..
It had been a few days before the Solstices since I was last out...
Man oh man it felt good to ride :ricky ....

I would like to Wish all the FF's that peek in ..

A very Happy New Year !!!

Well ya have me there.... That's why I try to keep a bottle of H2O handy on my bike....

And I have been hit by a few rocks and June bugs too... *ouch*

When this June bug hit me oh the smell and the ickiness..I wanted to pull off the road and wash my face so bad...
But I also wanted to get the photo..And well after a few hours when I could get the pic.. A lot of the bug was dried up and gone..

The guys sure had a good laugh out of it...

You can see the red make as well.. Good thing it didn't knock me out.. It was 10pm when I got whacked by it .. Coming back from Alabama in 08..

Wow.....right between the eyes. Don't ya wear a full face helmet ?

I hit a bird last year on Hwy 107 in N.C.. I was moving at about 60 mph. Got me right in the front of the helmet, half on the top edge of the face opening and half on that upper part of the face shield.

The face shield simply exploded. Broke the mechanism the face shield locks into on both sides of the helmet. Left some slight gouges in the paint.

It didn't hurt so much as scare the lights out of me. I didn't see it coming. All I got was a super loud BAM !!! And my head was knocked back as if someone gave me a good punch between the eyes. I looked back to see a cloud of feathers.

I did have just a bit of a sore neck the next morning.

I was very nearly hit by a bird on one other occassion. Close enough that in an instant I saw it's feet tucked under it's breast.
