You can go along Mongalata rd (7 gates to open!) then cut across to the Dares hill rd then past Ketchowla, you can turn right at Ketchowla and cut across to the road to Braemar. Or carry on past Ketchowla and turn right at Pine Creek rd this will also take you to Braemar. These roads are all good and more scenic than your intended route. Drzwalker
G'day mate! Leaving 2 weeks today (15th) from my work by 1300. Got your new toy yet? Ya comin or what?
Pandappa was on the route only cause I hadn't been there before, but now it looks like we'll bypass it. Thanks for the heads up on that one. Yeah, I hadn't forgotten the gates on Mongolata Rd! Seeing as we're likely to have dinner at Burra, it'll be dark heading up to Caroona , so I figured we'll take the easy option and just head up the Caroona Rd to the eastern entrance on the Friday night, and head out via the western entrance on the Sat morning. Plan B will be to stay at the old school house at Mt. Bryan East (MBE) instead (not much quicker to get to, but does save a bit of time in the morning bypassing Caroona). I'll check out your suggestion re Ketchowla and Pine Creek - 'scenic' is preferred. Having not been up that way at all before, I'm open to suggestions. Any idea on rough time frame getting from MBE to Yunta via your suggested route? I was thinking about 3-4 hours depending on photos tops etc.
Yes about 3 hours riding time, Pine creek rd is a good ride. We often ride thru Pitcairn and Makeking outstation then across to the Braemar rd (you need permission but its not really a problem). The railway access track from Yunta back to Peterborough is also a great ride. Drzwalker
I did spot the railway access track. Is there anything at Pindarie Hut worth seeing? And/or, is the track past it worth a look? - that's the reason for my alternative route out of Ketchowla up to the Pine Creek Rd.
The ruins of Pandapa stn are right on the road their is a fair bit of junk/rubbish, probably worth a look. . The Pindarie hut is off the main road and i havent been there, I will next time! There are some ruins at Pine creek also worth a piccy, there is an old hut on the right as you ride in I have always thought it would be a good spot to camp. Drzwalker

Sounds great KIZ. No hurry. It's not like we have to book a tree to camp under! Might have to give the butcher a heads up for the the pork, chilli & lime snags tho. Definitely gettin' me some more of those again. (I'll bring my grilliput again for all to use). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

That traffic sign looks promising maybe one with "no motorcycles fines apply" on it? The last one managed to morph itself around a hiding rock but it saved the cases so I'm happy! It seems like I'm saved by Kiz so hats off mister and my gratitude will haunt you til the grave
That one is reserved for my bike! :eek1 I was thinking a "wrong way go back" sign, we'll suited for both Bubba and Sir Ozzy and their DR's
