Ducati MultiStrada 1200

I tried to get the Ever Red thing when I bought the MTS from a private party. It was a day or two before the program ended. They shut it down early. SOL for me.

You are correct, there was some confusion as to exactly when the "last day" was. To remedy that, you just needed a crafty dealer that was able to "adjust" the date on the forms so it all worked out.....

FNG checking in. Got about 3k miles on my '12 multi. I had a monster 796 for about a year then bought the multi. The only problem I've had so far is the rubber bumper on the center stand has burned up. I've put 700 degrees F permatex on the top of what's left of it. That really didn't work so I wrapped some exhaust tape around it. Well, that didn't work either, long term anyways, so I had my dealer order a new rubber bumper.

mods so far: altrider radiator/oil cooler guards, aztec's spacers, and barkbusters on the way

Congrats on the new scoot! The Ti looks killer.

Re. the bumper, I gave up on mine. Kept losing it. Now I just let the center stand rest against the metal tang on the cat, and will touch up the worn paint on the center stand now and again.

Great looking machine - I was eye-balling that color Mutt at the dealer couple weeks ago. How do you like the paint so far? I thought it looked as if it didn't have a clear coat...very matte...but very cool.

I have no problems with the paint. Glad I got the Ti.

I did kinda screw up - I was using meguiar's carwash with wax in it, albiet I washed it very gently, apparently wax is bad for matte paint. I have now started using dawn and windex to clean the paint. I wash it 2 or 3 times a month - can't stand for my italian mistress to be dirty.

Ohhhh yeah - wax and matte paint not a great combo! Glad it hasn't been a problem...I know the '06 Tuono's had a matte black option that didn't work with wax, too.

The only other matte finishes I've encountered were on Harley's...they have a black denim which is pretty cool, but it gets a "patina" over time. Not sure what to think of it...

I do love that Titanium color though - glad you like the bike. My riding mate loves his...I test rode them last year and have logged some miles on his and it sure is on my short list....The Tuono may have to go. It bit me last weekend by losing ignition to cylinder no.2. Once the dog bites, I tend to shoot them. *sigh*

ROFL! I'm the same way. So far though, my Mutley has been a friendly dog, alternating between Greyhound and Retriever, depending on my mood...

I bought my Ti MTS about 3 weeks ago. I've been cleaning it with Plexus and it works like a charm.

Hit 745 miles on it already. Going in next Wed for the 600 mile service. Can wait til I hit 1000 and can really thrash it!

My buddies 1200 on top of Chumstick Mountain along the WABDR in eastern Wa. He rode up there on stock tires.

Hi again!! after reading ALL the replies in this thread i got to the ducati dealer here in porto, (portugal) and i bought the Puig wind screen! It´s great! in the lower position does a god job for the city, on the highway i pull it all up, and it does great all the way till .. today, 245km/h... tomorrow, who knows!

Actually, i found the puig should be god not for the god critics you all give to it, but by the bad critics you give to the other ones !

Bumper warrantied. I am going to keep getting it replaced, I have 5 years. If Ducati ever decides to make it out of something stronger (silicone?), you all can thank me then :)

Anyone feel like a non-DES model is the way to go on long-term reliability issues alone?

I had the standard for a year and 9000+ miles. If I get another, it will be DES, just because you can make some tuning changes while riding. Going from sport and firm, to touring and medium would be great!

I am please I purchaesd a Non DES with ABS and heated grips. I also got the Bags which personally would not do again. My decision on the standard was:-

Reliability concerns , and the fact that the standard felt better to me. I would love to see a track test comparing the two, as I think theMulti is a road bike, and I puchased on that basis.

I'd plan on putting some serious miles on the bike, probably less fork seals going out too. Is the standard suspension easier to work on?

As far as the bags, I doubt I'd miss them cause I'd rather have Givi's or SW moto's anyway. Heated grips and maybe some electronic cruise on the '13 and I'll be good to go. I could also give two shits about taking the thing off-road so I'm not sure I'm the right rider for th DES anyway.

Problems or not, I would buy the DES model again in a heartbeat. I switch between modes (and add a passenger) all the time. The different settings match different moods for me and make a huge difference in the fun factor of riding.
