I am officially on my way from Bellingham.

    :clap

Not much else to report. Had a little rain and hail, temp got down to 37 for a bit. That was fun, mostly because my heated gear decided to stop working. Stopped in Portland for a beer and burger, now its hotel sleepy time in Salem. Maybe I'll post some pics in the morning but not much to see except an over packed F800GS.

Put knobbies on mine today and I have my tools and camping gear staged. At least I won't be the only over packed F800GS. Ride Safe.

If you want to go the scenic desert route and go through Amboy and the Mojave Preserve, I will be leaving 29 Palms on Weds morning after my kids leave for school.

You're not trying to run heated gear on the stock CanBus outlet are you?

That will trip the circuit protection. Only 60 watts max on that.

If you stop and pick up a pig tail that connects straight to the battery (for now) they include a fuse and powerlet socket. Plenty of power for your gear and if you use a compressor etc..

I'm just trying to get the gear working for you as you come into the coldest part of the trip (assuming you're on the I 5)

ixab I hope it's a little warm in Salem than it is here. Brrrrr cold, frosty and icy. Ride safely.

I'm taking the luxury route and trucking, with the way it was hailing while I was loading up last night I didn't feel at all bad about my decission not to ride in.

Hey, Draggs - Stop by space 28 and say hi.

I'll be leaving Spokane as soon as I finish breakfast. See everyone there.

Portland to Salem stayed above 39 degrees, so it's all good. I was full of elk burger and Bachelor Bitter from Deschutes brewery, and so I didn't mind the last forty miles all that much.

    Here's my photos so far...

About to leave after a last REI stop... I have way too much stuff, already want to mail things home!

When I got to Portland I was charmed by the endless public transit and dark haired, post punk hotties with intriguing sleeve tattoos. I traded my F800GS for this bike, and I'm going to just ride from espresso machine to espresso machine, chatting up the baristas.

Ok... really I just ate dinner and kept driving, then stayed in a cheap hotel by myself. I'm good with that. :D I did get a cool picture that bookends the BMW motorcycle adventure from then to now.

I'm heading West today, running 223 to 20 to 101, then south to Eureka, CA. Nothing like a little 400 mile day to clear the head. Hope everyone's prep is going well!

    Hey all,

It probably won't be too cold in camp. BUT, that wind will come up out of nowhere and create quite a mess..

When you set up camp make sure you secure your tent and don't leave anything out that will blow away.. There are plenty of rocks if you don't have enough stakes for tents. I haven't had too much trouble with sand blowing in at PSR, but that is possible.

When you go out into the desert surrounding PSR to enjoy the Vistas don't hesitate to pick up any trash that has blown out there. If it's paper lets burn it. Plastic should be trashed. The existing metals and cans north of PSR are National Park artifacts and can't be moved !:evil

Anyone with smart phones. It' kind of fun to download an Astronomy App ..

I will be in camp on Wednesday. Toyota Tacoma with KTM / Northstar Fire / Lost / and PYYPP stickers on the window. See you all soon.

    Spafxer

That's great advice, I remember a few folks frantically looking around for their tents last year after those strong winds suddenly picked up. :eek1 :lol3

I'm not sure it matters, but I'm not a trucker; I'm riding in. I'm not even sure #31 is a truck or a ride in spot, and its pretty close to my request for row 24-27.

Maybe having trucks next door will be nice windbreaks. :jose
