I was interested in Motus a few years ago, and I hope they still make the bike and succeed as a company, but they really missed an opportunity not getting the bike out earlier after the initial hype. Now with EBR making an american made bike with 180 hp and having a naked and "ulysses" style bike on the horizon, those wanting an american made, powerful, sporting bike have other options on the horizon, at roughly half the price.
A Ulysses style bike could seriously catch my eye. That's the first I've heard of that, and it would really be exciting. As we all these boutique brands, it comes down to dealer network, reliability, etc. But the difference is I will always give them priority in the purchasing cycle.
Exactly. They've probably got buyers already for the 300 bikes they thought they might sell next year. Now they just have to get them the bikes. :ddog
yes that sounds like the case. wealthy buyers who lined up with real $ and are patience to received an updated, finalized and well tested product. July 2013: "Conn, company president, says 16 dealers are now in place and a “good number” of bikes have already been pre-sold. What’s more, he says plans call for Motus to build 300 bikes in its first year of production, and perhaps double that in the second year. As for the bikes themselves, Conn says “just about everything, apart from the wheelbase and overall look,” has changed since Conner rode the prototype." http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/08/01/2014-motus-mst-and-mst-r-first-look-review-photos-pricing/ i'd say all you naysayers need to stop it as you're making a fool out of yourself publicly and coming across as internet idiots. from all the info out there, these bikes are to be released in the next few weeks. my guess is a good bit are built already. i hope to ride one, one day.
It's a shame that most of the really good (and expensive) machinery winds up in the hands of "wealthy" people who have no idea how to ride/drive it. True enthusiasts who know what to do with it usually can't afford it.
What an idiotic thing to say....what on earth makes you thing that because a guy is well-heeled and can afford a Motus, means he's a poser and can't ride? I'd wager that every bike Motus sells goes into the hands of someone who is an avid rider and wants a bit of exclusivity....and has the means to afford a special bike.
I knew a rich guy (unfortunaely now deceased) who use to host private track days for a dozen or so friends who were in the loop. One of my buddies was in the loop and took me a couple of times as a guest. This guy was no poser! He could ride the shit out of any one of his many Ducatis. He would show up with a fully equipped trailor with anything you might need. He would feed us lunch and once he brought in an Ohlins specialist to help everyone set up their suspension. One of the nicest, sweetest guys I have ever met! I feel priveledged to have known him during his much too short life. He would have been a customer for this bike. I would be too if I had just a little bit more money. Rick G
If I had a dollar for everyone who started out a reply to a JerryH post with those words I'd have a Motus in my garage right now.
Fyi - Riders Hill in Dohlonegha, Ga will be dealer in 2014. Great location to ride to and check them out!
And they're a stand up dealer too, well known in the Guzzi community as one of the better places to buy a bike and have it set up.
I heard the same complaints about Norton. "When will the bikes be shipped?" "They'll fail as an enterprise before ayone gets one." Norton s shipping bikes. People will be riding them soon. http://blog.motorcycle.com/2013/10/30/manufacturers/norton/norton-motorcycles-begins-shipping-units-us/ The outcome for Motus will probably be the same as for Norton...or not...one of the two.
Good for us, good for them. Let's not overlook how many years it's taken for this to happen. 10 years, more?
After four years, that's it?? Not a single production bike made yet? No factory, no tooling? Just what are they going to sell? pictures and videos of bikes? Norton should have been easy. If they owned the Norton name, the Japanese could have one ready in one year. Kawasaki built a better version of the Bonneville than Triumph does (W650) I just have to wonder why people keep making up excuses for Motus. Will they still be saying "any time now" 10 years from now?
