Great read guys very inspirational. Can you share more about prep and bike setup...things to watch out for
Great ride and report!!! Had to laugh at this . . . .. Brother: No, you rode up little red, Big red is another kilometer to the left after you ride over that little hill... Me: Shit - oh well, not going back now... Closest I got to any Red was the flooded approach - just as well, coz I'm crap with sand.
Bugger I have finished reading the RR. Now I have to go outside and finish my chores. I have ridden some of those areas and deep sand on a heavy adventure bike is no fun IMO. Mitas E09 tyres will never grace my front wheel again,. I think they are too small in radius? for sand and tend to dig in making the bike want to pitch you off. Ask me how I know this! My fractures are still healing 12 months later. Not enough flotation for sand, OK for anything else though. They are OK on the rear end.
Great trip and report guys. Would love to have your GPS tracks on Trans Australia Trails, this trip would be perfect for it. Link below. Cheers Peter
Cheers Peter, good site, I have not seen that before. Route has dutifully been uploaded. http://transaustraliatrail.com.au/tracks/index#content Cheers, Greg EDIT: I used my spot tracker plot, I will re-do with my Garmin tracks in about a week or so, will be a little more accurate when zoomed in.
Great stuff, thanks. Yours was Track 100, and the first full crossing of Australia if I'm not mistaken. So the site lives up to its name now. Cheers Peter
