I always get a kick out of going to the Seattle bike show,

While there is free parking for bikes, most folks come in cages because it is usually raining, or snowing that time of year. It's so funny to watch a bunch of people pile out of a mini van in full pirate costume.

Why do some people need the rest of the world to know they own brand X?

A friend of mine [who happens to own a Harley and ride it] invited me to some event at the local Harley dealer next Wednesday. I think I'm being used though, He said he wanted to double-up for the raffle prizes.:lol3 This should be interesting, I'll report back latter.......

Shakespeare when he saw a rider in chaps (or assless chaps, I am confused):

"what type or make of man is he who walks with his balls in parentheses?"

I rode to the Timonium Bike Show in February a few years ago. It was about 20°F and there was some snow from the day befor still about. There were about 6 bikes out front, two HD, two BMW, and two metric cruisers. After degearing and donning a regular lightweight jacket for the show, I went inside.

I saw at least 50 people wearing leather chaps, and at least 200 wearing all the leather and gear they could, looking like they just stepped off their bikes. (NOT all HD, some were in racing leathers.)

Posers? :dunno Goofy looking? IMHO yeah!:lol3

Two years ago I rode up to help out with my club's highway cleanup day. Cold, wind, rain, blustery, overall fun time. Turns out I was the only one to show up. Went home, decided to go to the local HD club bike show. Got off the bike near the front door, observed that Mine was the only bike visible. Walked in dripping and saw all these folks in leathers and other pirate garb looking at me as if I was the strange one. I remarked to the money-taker, "Where are all the real bikes?" Heard grumbling after that.

Buddy of mine used to be a member of that group, had other bikes besides HD's. He put one in with a sidecar, novel he was told, but only HD's are eligible for awards. He's not a member anymore.

That, in a nutshell, pretty much sums it up.

Sunny, 70 degrees, calm? Plenty of big iron to be seen.

So am I to assume that if i wore my favorite team's NFL Jersey with that same team's hat and maybe a key chain depicting the team logo to a bar to swill some beer, I would also be considered a "poser" ?????

What if I watched X Games while drinking Rockstar on the couch but only know Shaun White instead of all of the contsestants?

What about wearing a Fox Racing Shirt to the mall eventhough I didn't ride my dirt bike?

What if I exchanged my worn out HD ballcap for a nice flat billed Monster Energy hat and wore that same hat sideways or backwards?

All seems the same to me.

    but hypocrite as i am
i'm usually in boardshorts and t shirt
all with brand names on them
and hat/thongs- flip flops to you
    everything with a brand name
never bike gear or snow gear/ sport gear eg boots etc
unless i'm wearing them for the purpose they were

Depends on whether you were wearing a chest protector over it.

I don't think it makes someone a poser to wear a t-shirt for their preferred brand (hell, I wear my BMW hat all the time and don't even own one anymore), but wearing leather gear when you drove your cage is definitely posing.
