So, I have a GSA as well. As far as water is concerned the intake snorkel is the only big problem as it is relatively low and hidden behind the tank. Other than that, make sure you have really good tires, like at least newish TKCs.

I bought a nice used KTM 640 for this ride (and other more gnarly adventures) because, to be blunt, the 1200 GSA just isn't the right tool.

    YMMV

This is why we thought it would be a good idea to use the team concept this year. Always nice to have some help getting unstuck!:lol3

Walk ALL water crossings first. If it's too deep for your bike....don't cross it :nod

GS's have a low air intake...

Showing up without knobby tires would be considered showing up with an inappropriate bike....meaning you won't pass tech check in...meaning "no ride for you"

The right side was only a few inches deep.

Being a veteran of clearing water out of my GSA, I'll be raising my air intake this spring....... :deal

Oh, and three oil changes with a fresh filter on the final change, is plenty :D

The intake snorkel, has a bell shape on the end of it, I will cut that off, and fit a flexible hose with silicon and a hose clamp. I will run the hose up near the top of the tank somewhere.... Pretty simple... It will be removable, I'll use a silicon that is flexible, and I should be able to twist the hose to break the seal and remove it :D
One of my team mates and I will be doing it together this spring, here in VT, where are you? Maybe you can come join in the fun! Then ride some snotty VT stuff with us!
