That's where the hotmail account comes in handy.

As somebody who's been looking for a van on CL and elsewhere for a year or so, I can tell you look for weird language in the ad. I found an "almost too good" ad last month but something in it was worded oddly. I grabbed that sentence and googled it and hmm, what do you know, the same van was advertised in three different cities and I don't mean adjacent cities.

SF, San Antonio and somewhere in Ontario...:huh

But stupid good deals do happen so I just keep a spam email address and just use it for this kind of stuff.

    Bwaahaaahaaaa!!!

    Finally found a Sprinter.

I'm going to kit it out as a weekender/portable office. I can fit the DRZ inside and run over to the Nat'l Forest and have a big old box to sleep in if the weather gets nasty. And on longer trips I can haul my Casita.

You've talked about your lust of these for a while now. Congratulations on finding one. I think maybe I'll start a hppyfngy's Sprinter thread. :D

    Yep.
    Thanks.
You mean I didn't start a Sprinter Search Thread on here? :huh

Guess maybe it'll have to be a Sprinter Weekender Build thread instead. :lol3

If this is still there my next day off I'm going to pick it up. Does anyone know anything about it? Apparently it was made by Uniflite or Unicraft in Bellingham Washington for a while. It's just the bare shell with no frame under it. I was thinking about throwing it on a lightweight harbor freight frame, giving it a clean and polish and using it as-is for a while. Next would be lights, maybe some sort of outdoor galley and an awning.

A little off topic, and I haven't read the whole thread (I peek in from time to time), but is there such a thing?

One of the AWD SUVs I am considering can only tow 1500 pounds with a tongue weight of 150 pounds. My dirt bikes won't fit inside the SUV, and a hitch carrier with bike(s) will weigh a lot more than 150 pounds, so I would need a trailer.

Open trailers are okay, but I would prefer an enclosed one to keep the bikes out of the public eye (one is expensive, the other kind of rare) so no one is tempted.

I was wondering if there was such a thing as a trailer that would weigh in well under 1500 pounds (with two dirt bikes that total 500 pounds) and was enclosed in some fashion. It doesn't have to be a a Wells Cargo type enclosure, just something that encloses the bikes - probably a plastic shell of some sort.

I saw this, which is the closest thing I came across:

Even though it says it is a one bike trailer, I bet I could get both my bikes in there.

Check the UK and Australian sites for the same vehicle.

For example, the Outback 3.0R [6 cylinder] Outback we have is rated for 3500 lbs in the US, but the same vehicle was rated for 2,000 KG in Australia and Europe - more like 4,400 lbs. My WRX is not officially rated for towing in the US, but in Australia it's rated for 1,200kg (2,640) with trailer brakes or 650kg (1,430lbs) without trailer brakes.
