Bought my kid a used Chinese 50cc scooter today for commuting to school. The thing runs really good! It looks new and if the odometer is correct it had 212 miles on it. I think it is probably correct because the engine is clean as a whistle.

When I got home I did in depth inspection and found the the sight glass on the rear brake reservoir broken. No way to fix it that I can see sans a wine cork.

So, I guess I will find out if Google is my friend and try to buy another combination: lever, mirror, brake reservoir perch. Was going to be his birthday present but it'll be late now.









How the hell did this break? The factory must have filled the reservoir with water? It would take quite a directed hit to break this thing. Probably happened on campus (it had parking stickers) from another scooters brake handle.

He doesn't like POS Hondas. Who in their right mind does?

It's the latter. "Ciudad Del Pollo" translates to City of the Chicken

An old Gold Wing fix for that was JB welding a nickel in the hole. Of course it won't be a sight glass then either.

I guess you young guys don't remember when master cylinders didn't have a sight glass (or were clear)

I was thinking the same thing, I've never in my 30 years of riding looked at a master cyl window and thought "hey, I need to add some fluid". Jb weld that puppy. That 5 minute epoxy that you mix together works well too and is clear.

Charlie I'll try to find the link to a scooter store where I bought some parts recently. They carried everything and the prices were good.

Yeah there is, I've never been in any of the scooter stores up here. There's usually creepy people like Magoo and Charlie hanging out in places like those.
