Hi guys motorbike riders are getting older, and we need to maintain our ability to detect danger, react quickly, and exert control in difficult situations. The good news is that aerobic training can do just that. In fact, as posted on my blog, there is now lots of scientific evidence that aerobic training not only increases physical stamina. It also improves cognitive function. This effect is particularly evident in older people. So aerobic training can provide both physical and cognitive benefits to older adventure bike riders. One more reason to keep fit Cheers Sam
I am going to by an old yamaha TY trials bike and restore for exactly this reason, hand eye coordination and balance is a big one for me, also after a extended break I am starting boxing again....training only. I have noticed changes with me, I am 47 not looking to regain my youth, just be a bit more reaction skill and help keep the mind working. I am a prison officer and the young blokes are getting nastier and quicker as the years roll by.
At 53, I understand and get this completely. I compensate by driving slower, in the car and the bike, and strive to find two lane options vs stretches of freeway on travels. I am also trying to be more active. Walks, treadmill, recumbent, and want to get a bicycle to pedal around on this spring. I am on about #15 of my original 9 lives.
