Left the project for a few days. In Seattle for a few days of business.

Everything is in good hands. Framing will start on Monday. Talked to the GC this morning and he said everything is on task.

    Pictures when I get home

The bathroom has a change in doors. We are using a barn type door, sliding to the left to open.
Doing this will give me flexibility to place the sink and toilet. Now you don't have a swing door. The
Murphy (double)bed placed between the bathroom and utility room doors. When sliding the door open
it will slide behind the Murphy bed. We framed the bathroom with 2x4 and the utility room with 2x6
A pocket door without the pocket.

We will doing the same with the west wall .. separation between landing and office / casitas

We are running conduit for stereo wiring for upstairs and garage.

The middle window above has been deleted. In it's place will be a 60 inch tv

Windows in the lower level in the back has been deleted.

We have added a deck coming off the upstairs landing (left side of drawing)

I will be adding drawings as we go along. Let me know if there are pages you like to have.

    Saturday shopping :
Great Indoors (Sears) had a going out of business sale. Picked up a euro style vanity, glass top and Kohler toilet (lower and high flush )
Not bad buy 40% off. Neighbor had a yard sale picked up low voltage lighting (never opened) .. good day shopping within a budget.

Monday will go back and buy the little draws they used to display their handles and knobs. (6 x 8 = 48 ( 4x4 draws) perfert for screws, nuts and rubber gaskets.

Monday was a day of meetings
7:30 pool guy, we decided to destroy the existing pool and build a new one. The existing pool was not little one friendly. New design to take advantage of the view and get away from the trees ( they drop a lot of leafs into the pool) A built in pool cover will also help in
    evaporation control.

8:30 Paver guy. Three options in paving, the existing driveway and stub to the garage, existing driveway plus driveway to the garage and existing driveway, new driveway and walkway to the house.

12 Noon, final placement of the saddle. Replaced the shrinking gout with non-shrinking gout and sealer. (saddle holds the beams.)

Framer never showed up. Lumber is coming in Tuesday and I had to clear the lot for the big pile of wood.

106 today and windy. Really hot.

Just finished a call with the arch. I am concern with fumes going upstairs to the casitas without a door blocking it. We spoke this morning and code
required a 3 ft landing to a door. I came with the idea of a pocket door at the bottom of the stairs on the landing. When there are guest just pull the door
close and other times we will leave it open.

Sucks about the pillar. Did one of the workers hit the pillar or did you? Are they fixing it?

    Love the pictures.

Anyone know about soundtube speakers? Thinking about hanging two sub-woofers and 4 reg speakers from the ceiling of the garage

You'd be better off setting a couple 12" powered subs on the floor somewhere, but not next to any cabinets made of sheet metal. They'll vibrate and drive you crazy. Any quality made bookshelf type of speaker should be fine, something with at least a 5" driver and a ribbon tweeter would be ideal.

We are using Presidential Pools out of Gilbert. Went down to their campus and looked at the pools. We wanted simple of a splashs of panche in a contemporary look. Lots of limestone and brilliant colors in the pool.

    I'm jealous walkingbear !!

What where you going to do to finish the outside exterior of the block?

Think you mentioned a stucco finish.

What are you going to finish the inside of the block with? Epoxy paint???? :D

Stucco to the outside to match the main house.

    Inside is up for discussion.
In the back area where the semi office will be .. most a light color sealing paint like the one used by hospitals. (Ben Moore product) in the garage main area a clear sealant..or a light color paint. Upstairs a more finished look. Tile in the bathroom, bamboo flooring and finished dryway in the north wall, stubs walls to stairs and ceiling.

We are going to have a concrete pad in front (26 x 30) so the kids can ride there bikes/trikes and play there (away from the street and near the playground equipment.

Evening Pictures. Something about the setting sun and the shadows that gives it life

I have a question on my garage build. How to run the existing wireless network from my main house to the garage.

In my house I have an apple extreme in the center of the house and two apple express on each end. I'm hoping to replacing one of the express with an extreme and place the express in the garage. The garage is 45' from the new extreme. Will this work?
