How are you going to unload the bikes with the trailer there anyway? (bigger bikes)

Cool. Never heard of the auto-dump feature before now. How's it handle wind?

We've learned to put the awning down when we leave camp. Ya never know what Mother Nature is gonna throw at you while you're out and about.

:getiton Came back to camp one time, my awning wasn't out like I'd left it... asked around and some of the other folks had rolled it up for me when the wind was about to rip it off the trailer - camped in the mountains and ya' never know where/when the gusts will come... where I'd been hiking it was nice and calm. I gave 'em a six pack for lookin' out for me. :kumbaya

Crank the truck so it is at an angle to the trailer and you can get a ramp in there. It's tight but you can do it.

Exactly. If I'm taking this rig I'm only going to bring a little bike anyway. I don't usually haul the big bikes. I just ride them :D

Can you just mount a bike hitch to the trailer instead?

The awning? Haven't experienced any wind yet.

I thought about that. I think the frame could handle it but I was worried about how the weight back there might effect the handling of the trailer.

It affects it. Filling the fresh water tank to counter it helps. (Mine is in the front.) Something a tad lighter like an XT225 would, too.:D

Right. If you take too much weight off the tongue by adding it to the rear you can get a really dangerous situation.

I'm actually working on a scheme to move my small bike rack to mount across the V of the tongue in front of the trailer. Carry a 250 class.

I could probably do that. Lower the battery tray. Move the propane tanks forward or back. Hmmm

I'm going to move my tanks altogether. I don't need two so I'm going to carry one in the truck and just connect it up at the site. Could make a place for it inside I guess. But I want to move them to lighten the tongue so the bike won't make it tooo heavy.

I actually have a plan for my pick-up. To be posted once implemented. Not cheap, but I think I'll like it.

He just needs to address the trailer jack so he can fully lower the tailgate.

To the OP, can you carry the bikes without the tailgate on?

verify your tounge weight and head the warnings and be sure to get the solid one, mine was around $80-$90.

Works great for my RV and my truck.

I used one with my last RV to get my bike carrier past the spare tire.

Be careful how you load your trailer, though-- that added leverage can bring out any tendency in the trailer to sway, and then magnify it.
