    Beckett vs Sabathia.:thumb

Runs should be scored. I'm talking Yankee runs.

They take this game and Boston starts the season as a 1-8 team.:huh

Beckett looked sharp yesterday, no doubt!

I was hoping and expecting the Beckett from last year.:deal

Enjoy the victory, you guys definitely needed it.

I cheer for neither of the ESPN teams. I do enjoy seeing both teams fans suffer though. :lol3 Schadenfreude

    Go Rockies!

(5-4) The Beckett/Sabathia matchup was outstanding, but Beckett prevailed going 8 frames and gaining the shutout. Ten K's and two walks. Chamberlain got us out of trouble in the 6th, but collapsed in the 7th thus ending the chance for a 2 out of 3 series.

Boston stranded 16 runners...........................way to high.

    We'll be back.

Looking forward to the series with the Orioles.

Beckett is the BoSox version of Burnett. They both have potentially filthy stuff, but are as likely to give up 5+ runs as they are 2. Both overrated as a stud pitcher as well.

The difference between Burnett and Beckett in my mind, is that Burnett is fragile emotionally, and looks like he is going to cry when he gets shelled. Beckett is a tough SOB, and responds his next outing. AJ makes me laugh, kind of like Peyton M., with the exasperated look.:lol3

A perfect analysis! That's why Beckett has such an arrogant look..............he is unfazed by the outcome with zero emotion. Burnett is just a head case.

i mean, that's a nice reputation to have and all, but looking at their game logs shows that's not really true (the responding the next outing part). sure, beckett looks tougher when he's getting battered. but the results are the same. :lol3

Hmmm. It must be the face Burnett makes then. And the fact that he's a Yankee!:lol3

    (6-4) Burnett is 3-0.
    Who would have thought?
Let's hope Hughes gets it together tonight.

Eh. He's looking decent, but the win number doesn't tell you that much- he's had a lot of run support in those 3 games.

With out a doubt....... With out the run support his numbers would look different.

There were some moments early in the game were he was on the verge of a major collapse, but he pulled through. When I saw Russell come to mound like three + times I was like here we go.

But, overall he has pitched well. I'll take it.

    (7-4) What a finish!

Swisher & Granderson both had a great catch at the wall.

    The Bullpen comes through again.

Posada: 7 hits and 5 homers so far. Looks like the DH role is going to work. Just got to get the average up.

    Texas series starts tonight.

(7-5) Very poor outing by Ivan Nova.
    You need to throw strikes!

Yankees batters grounded into six double plays to boot.

Game could be rained out today.
