Just dropping a line, ive only just started out riding and am currently working on setting up an '83 XL600R for adventure touring duties. hoping to be able to go on a few rides with someone who is a 'veteran' nd might be able to spare some advice to some one new. Also is anyone planning to attend the Harrow vintage enduro race next month? Thankyou!
I will beat Gags and tell you that I am the senior citizen on this forum. If I was any good at riding I would not have broken so many bones, but I do have a large ugly trophy that proves that I was a reasonable rider in my day. ( veteran class green triangle enduro club 1st place in the last century). Perhaps if you follow me and do the opposite! In Hamilton you have Juggling Ogre and WDrally. JO claims to be a novice and WD is a tidy rider with experience. A few of us are travelling up to Ouyen to witness the start of the APC rally on the Harrow event weekend and then going to Harrow on Saturday night to watch the event next day. Look for middle aged blokes on Suzukis with fat tanks. (sorry Slow if you come: he has dark hair still) BTW welcome
Dark hair, i wish , got the salt & pepper going there XR, some may even say i have the George Clooney / sliver fox look going . And when it comes to huge fat tanks, do we reackon us middle aged DR riders are trying to compensate for other little issues we may have .
Welcome to the group of misfits know as the GTR, and Yes XRman is the senior citizen and co-founder of this forum.
Welcome indeed. Doesn't matter what you ride or how you ride it, just so long as you ride it. Check in regularly for any rides, don't be shy, and plz excuse all the verbal diatribe that may, or may not, be typed by someone called 'Slowpoak'
Yip, welcome to the group...and the Hamilton sub-group. I won't be able to teach you much, even though I seem to look like I should know a bit, if you judge me by my hairline that is.
Stopped by Wimmera Motorcycles on the way back from Ouyen today and perved on the 800XC. Man, what a nice bike, but I just can't justify that much money. The piggy it'll have to stay for a while still.
Well I had fun yesterday, pissed myself riding back from town in all that wind and rain but at least no one could see the wet spot. One of you old leaky buggers know how to get the smell out of the seat?
Thehippo will have a distorted view of us all now. Fat gutted, balding, greyish haired blokes who can't ride for shit. As a matter of fact, on reflection, that is close to the truth. It was fat guts you were referring to about "big tanks as a compensation" for other deficiencies ; Slow? It is raining hard in Portland at the moment. Anything up your way Wal? I spent all day in Julia's $5.5.M medical palace learning about practice accreditation, only to learn that it won't be compulsory. WTF ! Why bother if only the ones that don't really need to lift their game become accredited and the ones that really need it won't bother because it will cost them too much? This government is really stupid! We spend bulk $ on making sure that our infection control measures are done properly, only to find those that don't comply are not audited and closed up! It is enough to make me turn into a grumpy old man! Too late!!! I need a drink! Too late for that too. I forgot to include Dean (MM) in the Hamilton sub- group before. Looking at flash new bikes is like perving on Jennifer Hawkins: great lines, promises great performance, but costs a heap in upkeep and a great loss of value at trade in time ( yours ; not hers)
Well we need nappies when we come into the world and when we depart. Thank God for me it is SFSG "down there". I forgot about Amber when discussing our manly traits, but after that comment she is now officially " one of the boys." Orange oil solvent or Eucalyptus oil will affect the vinyl. Perhaps we could consult Sharon Lush?
Hahaha. I'm getting a better bum for riding longer distances, I reckon I could make it to Vic, just not so sure I'd make it back home.
I'll be there.Got soaked into work this morning, so I've had enough wet weather riding for the week. I've started noticing a few more leaks in the suit lining now. Time to upgrade; if only I had money... same goes for the bloody bike. That Triumph is something else, but I agree with XR, once you have it, it'll start cash will start flowing out of your pocket like a Gippsland flood.
