First Bike and Exploring the Back Roads.

First time riding 2 wheels about a month before I purchased my Honda.


and about 30 minutes later.



learned a good lesson that day. ATGATT, and to watch out for cagers, they are trying to kill you.



so thats how it was for many many months, just riding around getting used to two wheels and on some crappy tires. Took my endorsement test on this bike and passed it perfectly after only 2 weeks of riding.

Onto some interesting pictures. These are basically just nice back roads i used to explore as a kid on my bicycle. With the top speed of my bike being about 65MPH I am really stuck to back roads riding (until i change the sprockets)

This morning I rode into work at 2am and it was roughly 34degrees out, camera was charging so no pictures there. Well when I got home at 6am I decided to go out and watch the sun rise and go for a little ride since the wife was already at work.




Crappy picture but here is the sun rise, it was a lot brighter and blood red but by the time i reached this area for a decent picture and had got the camera out this is all I got.

Down in DesMoines there is this statue, kinda odd, but hey its "art". Story goes is a fisherman was down on his luck when this fish jumped out of the water and he caught it. Well the fish had tits and when he kissed the fish it became a woman, or something like that.

Thats when i got that annoying sound from my camera saying "HEY STUPID YOU FORGOT TO MAKE ROOM ON YOUR MEMORY CARD FOR THE PICTURES YOU WANT TO TAKE!!"

So on that note I packed up and rode back home to thaw out in front of the fire and get a few hours sleep before I have to go to work tonight at 2am. I plan on many more pictures, video, and more importantly more miles soon.

Nice job! It's great how a motorcycle lets you "see" the world. Keep riding and taking pictures. You live in a great riding area that will offer you many adventures on your bike.

thanks I do look forward to more rides, just wish I had someone in my area to ride with. I was going to go explore some more today but after getting soaked to the bone on my ride home from work just now I think I will just sit in front of the fire for the night.

Riding with a group has its pluses but the most enjoyable rides I've taken to date have been solo rides. You can ride at your pace, stop when you want to, eat at the place that interests you and return home when you get tired. Motorcycling by nature (wind noise) is isolating which is one of the things that draws me to it.

Superb ride report takes me back to my first rides, owning a motorcycle can change your life ,enjoy and be safe brother.

Your speed. Your pace. Nothing beats the thrills of riding solo.

You're starting off well. Neat little bike that should serve you well.

Great bike to start on and for only $200 a fantastic bargain as well. Enjoy it and don't be in too big of a hurry to move on to something bigger. Small bikes are often more fun.

The weather the last few days has been in the low 40's and rain so I have not had much time to go out exploring with working 14+ hour days. But I am looking over some area's I have rode before and trying to figure out some time to get a decent day trip together.

Plans are to leave my house at about 4am and ride to downtown seattle. Hop on the ferry to bainbridege island and ride out to bremerton to a area I drive for work to watch the sun rise. Then make the return back over the ferry from bremerton back to seattle. should take the better part of the day. I hope my new chain and sprockets show before then so that I can have a little higher top speed then 65mph.

Awesome ride report! I must agree with one of the others regarding riding alone. It is much better than with a group. No asking,"What do you think about taking that road?", "Why are we stopping again?" or any number of questions that are asked while on group rides!
Keep doing what you are doing and wear a lanyard with your camera on it just in case you might need to drop it while taking a picture on the move!
You are discovering one of the great secrets of life that most people will never know!

Your bike looks great...is that a 23" front wheel?

Yea it is nice to ride solo at times, but the wife and I are looking into getting her a bike that she can fit on so we can do some day trips together. Problem is, she is 4'11" so finding something that will work for her is kind of hard.

Tarka, no the front is a 21, rear is a 18.

Well my trip that I was planning has been put off for at least a few weeks until the snow is gone and the ferry's are back on a normal schedule. So in the mean time I have been riding around here and there on some more back roads enjoying the empty roads and snow. Here is a video from today riding from my house down to the local water front.

I'm happy for you. Looks like you are having a good start. You may actually benefit from having an older bike in that as you look for your wife's bike the older bikes are shorter as well. If you are OK doing close rides (with her) that don't involve higher speeds it may open up other options for her. Have fun and stay safe!

Nice bike and ride reports. If your wife just wants a road bike and not a dualsport the KZ250LTD is a good choice. They fit a 4ft 11in woman very well. My wife is that height and rode her's for quite a few years. Loved your "home to waterfront" video. Dave

Thanks for the great suggestions but she has her heart set on this classic Vespa 125cc that I just found behind a guys garage. I'm going to try to buy it from him and have her and I restore it. Otherwise she will just ride along with me when i get a larger bike in the next few months I hope.

On a side note, we are supposed to have Snow-ageden tonight in seattle with roughtly 7 or so inches of snow is that the news is saying. So if that does happen i will have another video up tomorrow maybe of my ride to and from work in the snow.

Ok so we got some real snow yesterday, roughly 5+ inches so I have to give it a shot. Really wish I had better tires that are more suited for this kind of thing, dam near ate shit more then a hand full of times.
